Duane Long (Blog Discussion)

Besides rooting for and protecting a kid along the way, OSU is hardly in position to be hoping defensive ends transfer. Guys like Wells will be called upon within the next year or two to carry the torch.

With the way Duane Long uses the word "we" - as if he's on the damn coaching staff - you'd think he'd be aware of that.

Don't get me started on Duane Long. It's become quite apparent that Duane Long is all about Duane Long and nothing else. I don't even waste time reading his drivel.

Everyone has an adjustment to make when they go to college and add in athletics and the fact that he's nowhere close to home and the adjustment becomes even tougher. I was extremely impressed by Keith Wells in his recruiting process and I think he'll shine when his time comes.

I can't read Duane Long's blog. He writes like this. Short, choppy sentences. Some lack verbs. His vocabulary is limited. Everything is declarative. And absolute. Black and white. No gray. And very little scarlet. I am starting to think his world is gray. He seems constantly depressed about Ohio State football. Yet we are in the BCS every year. We have top ten recruiting classes. I do not know what is wrong with Duane Long. He refuses to use contractions. I am starting to believe that his comma key is broken.

Even if Keith Wells is struggling with academics, which I haven't seen reported anywhere else, there's no indication that the kid isn't trying to turn around an issues he may or may not have had or is unwanted by the staff or program. Insinuating such without any source at all and to imply that it's due to flawed character on the part of a 20-year old is irresponsible. Duane needs to show some responsibility himself, since he's a prominent (for now) blogger on OSU recruiting, and presumably a grown adult. It's additionally irksome that he not only spews negative rumors, but that he can't f-ing write in an even remotely educated style. The average BP post is composed at a level of literacy beyond anything I've ever seen in his blog, and I question whether the man has spent a day in a college classroom in his life. Perhaps if he's going to call out players for their academic performance, he could attempt to write above a grade school level.
