Duke Blue Devils (that rat faced scumbag)

We'll see if ratface can mold a collection of one-and-done's into a real team rather than a group of guys all looking to pad their stats and position themselves for the draft from game one. For all his success, Calipari seems to miss more often than hit under these circumstances.

Cal has one title in 9 seasons, and he ain't getting one this year either.

Dook might see the wrath of the NCAA because of $$$. I cannot believe that Coach Kzykcepyaci might be dirty just like some of his counterparts.. Which begs me to ask what the hell has he done which makes him so "great" in some people's eyes. How many title has he actually won. If we were not for Coach Knight he would be crap.

Coach K has had talent as good as or better than the opponent 99% of the time, and it has been this way going on 40 years now. Nothing miraculous about winning big in a sport where your bench players were dream recruits for a lot of your opponents.

A lot like tOSU football right?

Give the dude his due, he made Duke what it is and he brings in all that talent.

Can't argue any of that. And, honestly, I don't really think he/Duke were always, dirty. It seems like since the onset of the "one and done" era, the entire recruiting game became a shit load seedier. That, and the emergence of the AAU's have taken CBB right into the toilet. I think K looked around, saw the landscape (what Cal was doing at UK in particular) and just said "fuck it, I'm in."

Ok, but why the change in who they are getting in recruiting (i.e.,1 & done guys)? They didn't really amp up getting so many 1 & dones until dirty Capel came back to them. For so long K had a reluctance to recruit players who did not want to stay in college for four years and settled for McDonald's AAs he thought he could get to stay in college a while. If K has been cheating to get some of these players, then he isn't due anything.

It's an apples and oranges comparison anyway - having a Battier, Grant Hill or Laettner for 3 or 4 years in hoops is a huge advantage, like having a legit future NFL QB in college football, and K has had a lot of great ones - a star at any position in hoops can elevate a program.

Yup. And he recruited those guys, landed them, coached them and won ‘dem titles. I don’t really give a fuck about him, but he’s obviously exceptionally good at what he does

Duke loses 5 starters with Carter going pro

Duke has lost its entire starting group after freshman big man Wendell Carter Jr. announced he will declare for the NBA draft and forgo his final three years of college eligibility.

Carter joins fellow freshmen Marvin Bagley III, Gary Trent Jr. and Trevon Duval in declaring with the intent to hire an agent. The Blue Devils, who signed the top three players in the Class of 2018, will also lose senior Grayson Allen.

Duke, Kentucky and the limits of one-and-done rosters

i

One of the most peculiar aspects of college basketball also happens to be one of its most prominent features. Duke and Kentucky are programs everyone talks about, and teams that, almost without exception, recruit better than any other "brands" nationally.

Yet, to a certain extent, the Blue Devils and the Wildcats appear to be trapped under a one-and-done ceiling on performance. Past national champions such as Duke in 2014-15 and Kentucky in 2011-12 were great not only because of their one-and-done stars but also because of their veterans.

Veterans are increasingly hard to find on recent rosters led by Mike Krzyzewski and John Calipari. In the one-and-done era, no team has ever earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament with a roster that returned fewer than 30 percent of its possession minutes from the previous season. Duke has now come in under that 30 percent threshold in two of the last three seasons. Kentucky has done so every year since its undefeated run to the 2015 Final Four.

Looking ahead toward next season, it appears that the Blue Devils, at least, will once again rely heavily on freshmen. Of course, when the freshmen in question are players like R.J. Barrett, Zion Williamson and Cam Reddish, that reliance could very well turn out to be a good thing. Talent will again be abundant next season in Durham, North Carolina.

Well, imo, Ohio State is an elite football program with8 titles in 12 decades and some of the top talent year in and year out.
have never seen you posting about Ohio State basketball recruiting before but the point you just made about Ohio State football is exactly the point I made about Dookie basketball. So much talent and so little titles like 5 in 3 decades

No, not exactly. But I’ll leave it alone since it’s your opinion vs mine. Hard to change those.

And my apologies for not posting much in b-ball recruiting. I’ll do better
