"You have a lot of attention on a foolish sport like American football and you waste a lot of talent, athletic talent, on a sport that is meant to kill each other, to injure each other. ...You're so narrow-minded, and then you want to compete against the world [in other sports] when you waste a lot of time, good talent on a sport that sucks."

Something tells me that very few NFL players would trade careers with a speed skater, and few speed skaters WOULDN'T trade careers with an NFL player.
 
United States is a large country and there are two ovals in the entire country (Milwaukee and Salt Lake City). That's one issue with speedskating. If you're a mega-athlete in Florida, Texas, anywhere, you have to move you family to train on the two tracks.

The other alternative is in-line skating.
