UI football: Hawks target defensive recruits

But the Hawkeyes remain in pursuit of players at both positions. Defensive end Quinton Jefferson (6-4, 225) and linebacker Ejuan Price (6-0, 235) - teammates on the Woodland Hills High School team that lost last weekend in the Pennsylvania Class AAAA finals - are scheduled to visit Iowa the weekend of Dec. 10.

"We would both like to play together, but (it's about) whatever school fits us both," Jefferson said. "If a school fits better for him than me, then he should go to that school. I don't want to base my decision on where he's going. We'd both like to play together, but we understand it might not be the best fit for both of us."

Jefferson said Monday that he will visit Cincinnati this weekend and has a trip lined up Dec. 17 to Maryland. Price has had Iowa and Ohio State at the top of his list.

I think the only guy who could take his spot seems to be Curtis Grant, and he's not gonna announce until late January at the earliest, possibly on signing day. I don't think Price has anything to lose by waiting as long as he picks before Grant.

No way you ever turn down Curtis Grant. Not sure if Price is under the gun, but just saying that Grant desn't have to worry about losing his spot anywhere.

Scout $ - Price Still Pondering

1/9

From the Iowa site...teammate Quinton Jefferson chose Maryland...Price says his decision will likely come in the next two weeks and Iowa and OSU are still even.

Was Jefferson the player that was possibly going to be in the package deal somewhere? I ask because I read that some were thinking Price may be listening to some schools push the you and your friend pitch. But, regardless this helps clear the road for him to make a choice based solely on whats best for him.

Man, this kid is a tough read. Is this a 50-50 deal?

Purely, 100% speculation on my part, but the coaching staff may be slow playing his recruitment to see what happens with Grant and Vaughters, leading to the 50/50 situation.

Price looked like a Buckeye lock a few months ago but seemingly out of nowhere went to 50/50 between Ohio State and Iowa, which might be an indication that the staff has been slow playing the recruitment for some time.

Once again, purely speculation, but it could be an "Ohio State if they give me the green light, Iowa otherwise" scenario.

Valid argument. I however think that he's been a Buckeye lean all along and is just keeping his options open and the suspense high.
