Making some progress now... due to an unreliable internet connection I'm only able to vote once every 6 seconds, but it's slowly creeping up:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top align=left colSpan=2>1) Do you believe Maurice Clarett's allegations against Ohio State?

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top align=left>56.3%</TD><TD vAlign=top align=left>Yes

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top align=left>43.7%</TD><TD vAlign=top align=left>No</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Come on, guys! All they are doing is getting you to go to their site and you all are falling for it. Internet polls have no validity because the sample is self-selected. Relax. Forget this thing and stop going to ESPN. No matter how you log in there, they get a traffic count that bumps up their ad revenues every time!

Is there anyone there who can help explain how to make a macro?

I have downloaded PowerPro, but the documentation isn't really helping me figure out how to record my first macro.

I can appreciate that opinion, but I'm enjoying screwing with their "data". The very fact that I account for about 5% of total respondants proves there's no validity to the poll, but I enjoy knowing I can mess with them and if someone's paying ESPN based on macro hits to an internet poll, they deserve to get ripped off too!

I downloaded MacroMania for this little hack. Not the best tool I've ever used, but this macro's pretty simple.

You might need to adjust it based on how fast the pages load and/or your resolution, but here's what I've got:

Repeat
8000

Pause
1.5

Mouse
MOVE 256, 512
Mouse LEFTCLICK

Send
{tab}{down}{space}

Send
{tab}{tab}{tab}{tab}{tab}{tab}{tab}{enter}

Pause
3.5 Show

That 'SHOW' is pretty important. I kept crashing my PC as I couldn't stop the macro. Adding the "show" gives me 3 seconds to press "cancel" if I need to interrupt it.

BITBoro,

Do you know how to make it so that a new instance of IE is not opened each time? I get about twenty IE's opened and it zaps my resources.

Also, is the Mouse "Move" command dependant on your resolution? The vote does not seem to be registering.

Thanks!

Edit: It took a bit of playing around, but I got it to work. I'll run this thing all night.

I broke down the math, and assuming no one else votes on this poll (since it is in the archives)... it will take 9000 more votes to get it to 49.9-50.1% believe Clarett is telling the truth (50.1 = he's a liar).

Thanks a bunch for the macro. I messed around with PowerPro for an hour with no luck (at least not much anyway).

Sadly, Boro your macro works (once I change the webpage), but if you look at the total votes, it doesn't clear out the cache so the vote is not counted for me :(

Good work everyone. We need to get the total votes category to around 77,000 to 80,000 or so before we will make the poll favor OSU.

For anyone trying to revote constantly, make sure you are clearing out your cache (Firefox -> Cache; Internet Explorer -> Delete Files... it's not under cookies) by deleting everything in that folder every time you want to vote again. Otherwise, it just reposts to the server and it doesn't count your additional votes (as to prevent skewing the data as we are now :wink:

You guys are doing good!

This reminds me of the time I entered an online photo contest. If you weren't in the top ten vote getters then your picture wasn't on the front page and no-one would vote for it. The first 6-7 pictures had like 500,000 votes each and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how until I found out about these macros. I had a simple one like this running and was creeping up the list, but there was no way to get half a million, so I used a computer lab at work and set up each of about 20 computers running the same macro and left them to run overnight. My estimate was wrong and when I got to work the next day I had like 2 million votes... the day the contest was to end they deleted all the entries with more than 1 vote per day from the same IP address and some sorry picture of a dog won. :lol:
