Whether you want him or not, Seminole Nation, you have officially gotten him.

The him is Everett Golson, who, as had been anticipated for the better part of a week, announced Tuesday (according to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports) that he will use his final season of eligibility at Florida State. The former Notre Dame quarterback had visited the Tallahassee campus a week ago, which resulted in the two sides getting serious about what will be a one-season future together.

While Ohio State will be the three-headed quarterback competition to watch as summer camps across the country open up in late July and early August, this one, with Golson and Maguire, figures to be nearly as compelling.

After that Clemson game I thought Macguire would never see the field again and nobody is surprised Jimbo is desperate to find a replacement.
That said, Golson wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire at Notre Dame... so I suppose it could be a "compelling" battle in a ship-of-fools sort of way. But I think it's about as compelling as Rudderless Rudock vs. SugarShane.

Considering what Jimbo has squeezed out of his previous four QBs (JaMarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Christian Ponder, and EJ Manuel), I think it would be hilarious if Golson had an All-ACC, honorable mention All America type season.

Maybe Golson responds better to a players' coach that speaks calmly as opposed to a screamer that turns purple and murders videographers?

FTFY
Though I agree it's probably win-win for Golson and FSU, much as I've come to despise the latter.

I wouldn't be surprised if Golson does well in Tallahassee. I think Golson could end up having a very successful year at FSU, it'll be a good fit. For starters he probably won't be asked to do as much or throw the ball 40+ times a game. Without having to do it all that should limit the opportunities for turnovers for starters. FSU will have a younger OL from what I heard, but they should still be talented. If Golson does end up winning the starting job he'll have a fairly easy opening with Texas State, BC, USF, and Wake. His first test should be Miami in Game 5 which shouldn't be that tough for the FSU squad.

Golson could also end up having one of his former Centers join him which would add experience on the OL. Matt Hegarty spent time at Center after Nick Martin had a hand injury and shifted over to guard. Hegarty is also a 5th year Senior and while he was a good player and has experience, the ND OL was deep and there weren't enough roster spots at the time to guarantee him a 5th year return. FSU is one of the locations Hegarty has looked at, but hasn't committed to yet.

True, though he also seems like the perfect guy to continue where Jameis left off on the Rose Bowl.

That's the hope!
