No chance Oregon goes undefeated this year - they didn't last year with the best QB on their school's history.
If FSU is undefeated they go. They're one of a handful that gets that pass.

I'd say that is pretty far fetched. Its VERY difficult to go undefeated. Have 5 teams from major conferences EVER gone undefeated in the same season before?

Closest I can remember is 2004 when three teams from Power Five conferences, and five teams in FBS overall, finished the regular season undefeated:
Auburn 12-0 (won Sugar Bowl to finish 13-0) SEC
USC 12-0 (won BCS title game in Orange Bowl to finish 13-0) Pac 12
Oklahoma 12-0 (lost to USC in BCS title game to finish 12-1) Big 12
Boise State 11-0 (lost in Liberty Bowl to finish 11-1) WAC
Utah 11-0 (won Fiesta Bowl to finish 12-0) MWC

OK, let's say only one, or even zero teams are undefeated - let's create a situation where Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Baylor, TCU and FSU all finish with one loss.
If all losses came in the regular season, all in October games, all on the road - i.e. all things relatively even; I believe that given the standing of ACC football and the Semihole's performance in the '15 Rose Bowl, FSU doesn't get in the playoffs. The winner of the Baylor TCU game is probably going to get the call.
But the thread is beginning to wander here - someone is lying re: Golson and Texas.

I see it more like recruiting. Maybe he has a top5 that he'd like to seriously consider... visit their campuses, talk to their staffs, build relationships, etc. It's understandable that Texas would've been an obvious choice in that mix, even if it's unlikely they'd be his final choice.
re:McElwain, I think you'll actually see faster turn-around on offense. That's where he earns his paycheck. I'm more interested to see if he can actually build anything on D... Gator fans may find themselves wishing they found a way to employ both Muschamp and McElwain. He produced NFL talent out of nowhere at CSU -- but only on Offense. His Ds were a sieve. That's the risk of hiring a Mid Major HC though... you can find a lot of success at that level by focusing on 1 side of the game. OTOH, he has made some decent hires on that side pulling Collins away from MState and ex-Miami HC Shannon.
The way he worded it was deliberate. Basically what I gather is that it was understood, implicitly or explicitly, that *if* Golson were to put Texas on the official list he handed the Athletic Dept, Texas would have been rejected. So he didn't put them on the list, and thus the AD can "honestly" state that he never actually rejected a transfer to Texas; because officially Golson never requested it.
Nonetheless, I don't see a problem with it. I don't think schools should have that Veto Power... but it's the NCAA which very clearly gives them that right. And if you have that power, teams on your schedule are rather obvious no-gos. The domers didn't do anything dirty.

The graduate exception is a version of the one-time transfer exception. It is for student-athletes who cannot use the normal one-time transfer exception because they play one of the sports that are not permitted to use the exception.
The student-athlete must have graduated with at least a bachelor’s degree;
The student-athlete meets the other requirements of the one-time transfer exception;
The student-athlete must have at least one season of competition left; and
The student-athlete’s previous school did not renew his or her athletic scholarship or offer an athletic scholarship for the following academic year.
The requirement that the scholarship be cancelled or not renewed is generally not an issue. The scholarship does not need to be cancelled before the transfer or be the reason for the transfer. Because the one-time transfer exception requires you to get a release, what will happen with your scholarship is generally just an administrative detail."
So, as I read this, if Golson had tried to go to Texas, Notre Dame could claim he still had a valid scholarship from them and was not eligible.
My sympathy for student athletes continues to grow.
