Everett Withers (Off Analyst Texas Longhorns)

Hmm, definitely think he was shown the door and I would be lying to say that I am happy to see him elsewhere. I do want to thank him for his effort, wish him the best of luck, and thank him for his biggest contribution as a Buckeye, which was bringing in Vonn Bell.

I wish Meyer didn't place such an emphasis on recruiting. You can have all the talent in the world but if you can't coach them it's no good. I've watched Kerry Coombs make DB's regress from their performances in 2010-11. You can have all the fire on the sideline and in the player's home but I'm unimpressed with his coaching.

if that is the case maybe coombs switches to special teams. lot of high energy special teams guys out there. not so much in college as the NFL but who knows, i mean hell we have a recruited scholarship snapper (who is great on covering kicks) so anything is possible

this is the guy i want back coaching our D

what a run of talent we had under tenuta from 1996 to 2000 in the DB's and not only did we recruit well, they played well, and damn near all of them were high draft picks in the NFL

columbus native so who knows

That about sums up my thoughts as well. Thanks for your time and contributions and good luck going forward.

Did not realize he was a Columbus native, nor that he coached our DBs then (I was a young pup and didn't know any coaches aside from Cooper then). Why did he leave Columbus in the first place?

I know that the majority of you think that he was shown the door and that he is going to be coaching at a very small school in James Madison but sometimes guys like to be their own man and being the HC at any college is a positive for some guys. Also, he had the title of Assisted Head Coach which makes me think that Urban thought highly of him or why would he have even brought him on board.

It will be interesting to see if Urban replaces him with a person that has Ohio State ties. Personally, I think he will go with someone that he feels, and knows, comfortable with and that does not necessarily mean the person will have ties to Ohio State.

Ohio State ties don't mean much for me after this season. I just hope that he hires the best up and coming defensive coach that he can attract to the position.

I don't know what the situation is, but I'm happy for him and hope he excels as a Head Coach.
I personally believe his zone scheme wasn't a good mesh here, but I have no doubt that he's a far more capable man than I.
Good luck Head Coach and thank you for your contributions to the 24-win streak and everything else.

1999 postseason: With Coop feeling heat, Pagac "bumped up" to assistant head coach (I'm being somewhat facetious) and Tenuta given full reins of the defense for the 2000 campaign.

2000 postseason: Tressel comes in, boots Tenuta and Pagac and brings Dantonio down from East Lansing to run the D, Mel Tucker from LSU (DBs) and Mark Snyder from Minnesota (LBs). Heacock is the only defensive coach Tressel retained.

Tenuta was at UNC for 2001 before Chan Gailey grabbed him and he spent six years as the DC and #2 man there. Tenuta got a game or two as interim HC in 2007 after Gailey was canned, but Paul Johnson didn't keep him around.
