KBD played a huge role in two of the 3 games and gained a lot of confidence and game experience in Loving's absence. His stroke looks more confident and he made some great plays on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Let us remember which teams KBD was playing against when he played so well.. It was nice to see him play and I enjoyed his athleticism but come Saturday against MSU up there I would much rather have Loving on the floor. I think you are forgetting what Loving's three-point FG% is during this season and I am just not talking about 3 games::wink:

I am fully aware of Loving's 3-point percentage and never did I say we were better off.....just that KBD was a very serviceable fill in during the time Loving was out and I think the extra experience and PT will hopefully help build some quality bench depth down the stretch.......but thanks for putting words in my mouth.:wink:

I think if Loving is back in good standing with the coaches and is doing well in practice that he should be reinserted back into the starting lineup. While I love the intensity that Tate, I just think that offensively Loving is just a better all-around basketball player then Tate plus the fact that Tate is still just a freshman even though he does not act like one most of the time.. Tate needs to improve his outside shooting,, including free-throws, to be really useful this season.

Loving is one of those guys I worry about if he is going to do his best out there on the defensive end. I know one time last week he was supposed to box out an opposing player and gave up an easy offensive rebound instead, and then got pulled from the game with Matta having some words for him after taking him out. One of the reasons this team struggles so much on the road is not enough guys do the little things like boxing out and diving for loose balls, gotta change the culture on the team in that regard a bit.

Tate was placed into the starting lineup prior to Loving's suspension and he added energy that the team so desperately needed. Loving's 3-point shooting actually improved coming off the bench, but he has been struggling since his suspension. The team needs him to get back on track from 3.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For most of last season, Marc Loving looked like the reason Ohio State would be able to take the NBA talent it had in D'Angelo Russell, and make a run.

Because to do that, the Buckeyes needed a consistent secondary scorer, something opposing teams needed to think about and keep them from planning to just shut down Russell. Loving, with his 53 percent stroke from three-point range and nearly 12 points per game through the first 22 games, was exactly that. He was a guy you needed to plan for.

What happened?

After unquestionably his best game of the season -- 5-for-5 from three, 19 points in a blowout win over a then-No. 16 Maryland team that ended up winning an NCAA Tournament game -- Loving disappeared.

First it was a three-game suspension for an undisclosed reason. Then, whatever was working so well for Loving through the first part of the season, he never got back.

Finding it now could define this Ohio State season.

"I don't know, we don't know what it was," Buckeyes coach Thad Matta said. "But I know this, I need Marc to be a heck of a player this year."

It's really becoming more frustrating to watch him as a Senior, no leadership has all the skill in the world but no grit I just don't understand and at this point would not oppose to CJ and Kam taking minutes from him because when Lyle got benched Loving should have taken a seat with him. I keep hearing that Thad is scared to do that to him because he wouldn't handle it well mentally, well oh well he's a Senior and it is now or never for him and he's still just meh....

Loving is who he is. He's not getting any better. I was worried about today because he had a couple of good games and just hit the game winner at Nebraska. He was feeling good about himself and was playing a team he never lost to before. Perfect recipe for Marc taking the day off.
