Fan Calls Out Alex Rios When Refusing Autograph For a Kid

bucknutz

OH--IO
What a classy guy.

Total Pro Sports - When a big leaguer turns down an autograph request from an older man, it is often understandable. They do not want him to go and sell it (like he probably will) in order to make a profit. After all, the only ones who should be making the big bucks are the players, right (sense the sarcasm)? But what happens when an MLB player turns down a young kid who has waited to get the piece of cherished memorabilia. Then it's heckling time!

Jays Alex Rios Is Clearly Not In The Mood To Sign Autographs

That was funny. I personally don't think it's a big deal when a guy doesn't sign autographs but the way he handled the backlash from not signing autographs was flat out embarrassing and we will probably be reading about an apology any day now. What a fucktard. I hope he continues to go 0 for 5 and that somebody shits on his tooth brush.

Ahh, I got blown off for autographs all the time when I was a kid.

Prick: Eddie Murray: "No sign!"

Bigger Prick: Dave Steib as a lady whose son was missing the all-star game because he got appedecitice as she explains the situation: "Yeah right, I was going to sign it anyways." She says, "It's been on the news and everything." Steib: "Yeah, whatever."

Even Bigger Prick: Jose Canseco (to crowd of kids): "Shut up you little punks!"

Biggest Prick: John Denny: "No. Ask me again and I'll break your arm." (I was the only one hanging around too).

Best dudes:

Nick Esasky and Chris Sabo used to sign everything I put in front of them. Loved those guys. Paul O'Neill went out of his way to get me a ball once after I thanked him for tossing one to a friend of mine the year before.

John Kruk when I when I told him I was a big fan: "No shit!"

Andy VanSlyke as he grabs my friend and pulls him by the shirt preventing him from accidentally stepping into traffic when trying to get his autograph: "What are you kid? Fucking stupid?" And then he signed his card. (It was actually really funny).

Rios

There are a some people who are a autograph dealers and they use kids to obtain signatures. They either use their own kid or give another kid a few bucks to get signatures. They know athletes can not say no to kids and exploit them. The athletes see these guys doing this every day and it gets old. Rios recognized the adult and what was going on. The guy makes a scene and Rios is the bad guy. If it is for a single kid, almost every athlete will sign.

How would you like it if you are walking with your girlfrind and being belittled by someone wanting your autograph to sell. He should have kept walking and let the guy keep ranting. He recognized what was going on. quote=3074326;1480129;]The biggest problem I had with it was that he handled it like a prick.[/quote]

Hold on...

Let's get our stories straight.. you guys hate Alex Rios due to some autograph snafu?

I have a much more pressing issue.. I have him on my fantasy team! Holy Hell! I don't get points for autographs! When I have Alex Rios in my lineup, he goes 0-5! So I leave him on my bench..

When I leave him on my bench, he goes 2-4, with a(n) RBI, and 2 steals! What a prick! Fuckin asshole! Punch him in the esophagus! Kick his cerebellum! Make his cerebrum bleed! Piss on his lawn! Shitballs!

Little kid? Guess I should read the story huh?

Fuck Alex Rios!!

Easy solution: "What's your name, kid? Billy, sir. To Billy, Go Rays! Alex Rios"

You'd have to sell to a "Billy". :)

No one seems to think that Rios is entitled to privacy? And what's the kid going to do with the autograph, turn around and make a buck on it? I put up with the little turds while watching the Reds in the 80s. We had box seats three rows behind the visiting dug out and they bugged players all through the warm ups/bp and the game. The older ones often got beligerent and confrontational and it wasn't unusual to hear the phrase 'you suck" or 'asshole' come from a kid. Many approached with multiple items to have the player sign, then ran back to their seats and turned the autographs over to adults. Like maybe all the adults standing around and getting on Rios's case in this clip.

I don't believe a player has to turn around everytime a kid aproaches. It's often not as innocent as it sounds.
