Favorite Analyst/Talking Head?

CentralMOBuck

Assistant Coach
This probably is going to go over well with a lot of people here. But I would have to say my favorite analyst is Bob Knight. He's easily one of the greatest coaches ever and he brings that knowledge to broadcasting. He doesn't go on the air and worship a particular conference or team(ex. Vitale and the ACC/Duke). I think deep down he could give a rats ass about Vitale. I've seen quite a few times where he was craking a joke about him.

I like Vitale, tons of energy, makes the game fun to watch, even when it's teams I don't like.

I have no problem with Vitale either. He makes watching a game that more exciting. Where as Bob Knight brings very little emotion to a game(I've only seen him announce a few time), instead he brings a wealth of knowledge to the booth. He's one of the few that have been there and done it. Most analyst's have done some coaching or were players and that is nothing compared to what someone like Knight brings. I just think it's kinda funny how Bob Knight likes to poke fun at him.

I thought I would never see two crazy:lol: people in one thread talking about how good of an a analysis Dickie V is when it comes to college basketball. When it comes to strain analysis, I have truly enjoyed Bob Knight this season. He doesn't mess around too much and talks mostly about what is going on in the game and does not have to throw out other people's names to get some recognition. He knows what he is talking about. I also enjoy Bill Rafferty. He knows his man-to-man:biggrin2: and I really think that he does know the game. I would also have to put Special K. right up there with Coach Knight. They are very similar IMO

Vitale? Seriously? I can only take about 15 seconds of his over the top bullshit schpiel. I will say this, I've heard him in interviews where's he's not trying to act like a "hipster" and he's quite knowledgeable. I'll also give him credit as being passionate about the game....

But, his on air personality literally PREVENTS me from watching games... he's truly that annoying.

Todd Blackledge as far as CFB goes, and it isn't even close. He sees the game well, and doesn't overlook the minor details in games that can make or break a game like 95% of the analysts out there do.....including Blackledge's partner, Mike Patrick, who sees nothing, and misses the entire game.

I'm a fan of Bilas and think Doug Gotlieb is pretty decent. Agree about Greg Anothony...he was easily the best on ESPN, and surprised ESPN let him go. I like Doug Collins in the NBA.

I really can't think of many NFL guys I like.
