Favorite Ohio Campground

Veritas Aequitas
Even though it is close to my home, I'd have to say that Hocking Hills (Old Man's Cave) is one of our favorite places to camp. I'm looking to take the family some new places this year. Anybody know any good campground with pools, water parks, etc...?

Only 10 minutes from Kings Island, closest family camping to Kings Island. Camping on the Little Miami River and State Scenic Bike trail. Large shaded primitive sites include picnic table, and firering, and security. Clean restrooms, Hot showers, quiet family atmosphere, firewood available. Canoeing, kayaking, swimming and tubing in the Little Miami River.

Wife and I have a lot at a local campground. Have our RV & golf cart parked there year round. Nice to be able to "get away" and camp, yet also only be 15 minutes from town in case we forget something or have to rush back for an emergency. We pay $690 annually for membership, which includes our camping lot, water and drainage hookup, and swimming pool, fishing, boating, and members-only lodge privileges.

Mmmm. Beer.

When I was a kid there was only ever one vacation destination. Hueston Woods. I haven't been there in probably 8 or 9 years like to go back and take a stroll down memory lane.

Hueston Woods is great. When I was in school at Miami, I used to go out there to read quite often, and we'd always rent a campsite or cabin at least once a summer. Nothing beats Hocking Hills, in my opinion though. Mohican State Park is really nice too, though, and I like John Bryant in Yellow Springs as well. It's great because Yellow Springs gives you a nice alternative to the great outdoors (nice indy movie theater, several good bars and restaurants), which is really great if you're planning on staying for a long while or just spending a day away from home. Plus, you might run into Dave Chappel! If you ever go to Mohican during football season, you should make the short drive into Loundonville, home of one Ron Zook (puke) because there is a local bar there called Beano's Buckeye Ballroom that has to be one of the great spots in the country to watch an OSU game. Ask them to pull out the scUM mannequin, which includes a football helmet, shoulder pads, a jersey, and a dildo strapped to its mouth. Not kidding you.

Maumee Bay State Park is pretty nice. It's on the Lake has a nice pool at the Lodge and has it's own golf course.

The Lake Erie Islands State Park campgrounds are all nice. Primitive but great views.

Memories of my home town. Beano's is where I met my wife, find all my high school buddies when I go home, and catch up on Loudonville gossip.

Mohican is alot of fun. I worked at the canoe liveries for years growing up. It's pretty much packed all summer

Beano's rawks! :banger:
Someone in the bar once called my brother a "goddamn city boy" and that "fags" weren't allowed in there. My brother grew up in Loudonville, is straight, and my father was a well-known professional in the town. That guy would probably have turned pale if he knew whom he was yelling at. That town oozes class. :p

Mohican is beautiful, though. Some of the autumns can be just as pretty as New England.
