I don't think I've ever made it through a round of golf without at least one Tin Cup reference or Happy Gilmore and Caddyshack for that matter.
"Ben Hogan? Now who's he?", never get tired of shouting that after a nice shot.

'The Natural' (theme music still gives me chills)
'Pride Of The Yankees'
'Hoosiers'
'Major league'
'Tin Cup'
'Caddyshack'
'Bull Durham'

Hoosiers. Best sports movie ever.
The Natural. Second best sports movie ever.
Field of Dreams
Victory
Major League
The Program
Rocky III
Bull Durham
Miracle
And, I know its not a Movie, But I have the DVD.......The 2003 Tostitos Fiesta bowl. (The ONLY reason this is not #1 is that it does not fit the definition of a move, although it stirred more emtion in me than any other filmed program in the histry of television or cinema.)

The long-awaited sequel to "Bull Durham" is finally getting off the ground. A spy tells us Kevin Costner recently met with director Ron Shelton at Trader Vic's in LA to discuss reprising the role of carousing catcher Crash Davis from the 1988 baseball flick. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are also expected to return as pitcher Nuke LaLoosh and baseball groupie Annie Savoy, who are now married and owners of a Major League team that Costner manages. Kristen Kerr, recently seen on "Dexter," is being eyed as one of Crash's love interests, our insider said.

Caddy Shack is a timeless classic and still funny. Dang Gophers.

Raging Bull not mentioned enough. My favorite, and among imdb users rated higher than any other sports movie, coming in at #71. It won 2 Oscars and got nominated for several more. This SHOULD have been Scorsese's first Oscar. Cast? Amazing. Plot? Yes. It's not that most sports movies aren't a good watch, but a lot of them are simply retelling good sports stories or some trite tale of overcoming adversity. It's the best filmmaker in the last 30 years' best movie and quite possibly the best actor of the last 30 years in HIS best performance ever (sorry, young Vito and Travis Bickell). Besides, boxing movies for some reason make the best sports movies. Which is why Million Dollar Baby is #2 on my list and Rocky I #3. I know, Rocky is a trite tale of overcoming adversity, but it might be the most well done of that particular niche. :wink2:

Favorite non-Boxing sports movies: Slapshot, Field of Dreams, The Longest Yard. Still waiting for someone to make a REALLY good football movie, too.
