FB/LB Zach Boren (Official Thread)

Maybe a future DT? I don't think we'll offer him either. Maybe if he does well at one of our camps.

FWIW... Boren had an excellent UM camp last summer. He practiced at multiple positions, but really excelled at DT.

It will be interesting to see how he develops physically. I like his motor on film and if he's half the weight room goer that Justin is, DT or even OG might not be out of the question.

I dont think OSU will have room for him to be honest even with the larger number of scholarships we have for this class as opposed to recent classes. The only way I see him recieving the offer is if he absolutely blows up at camp or grows 3 inches and puts a little more weight on to become a legit OSU caliber DT.

Zack is showing a stunning amount of consideration for OSU. I've been told that Zack has said that he "loves the Bucks", and that person who told me this will be on the OSU roster in '09 (and is a member of this site). Absolutely mindboggling to me...

Wasn't there earlier speculation that he was using OSU interest to get MI. off the pot. And now with the regime change, maybe he has no place in their plans. Zach is likely a fine player, but it is hard for me to root for seeing a Michigan legacy in S&G.

I find it hard to believe that he loves the bucks given how he reacted to his brother showing interest in tOSU just a few short years ago...unless it has more to do with the changing of the guard up north.

not doubting your sources...just possibly his sincerity in making these statements

I don't even know that he gets an offer from us.

Uh, Gonzo was a scUM legacy...did you have problems rooting for him?
A bit of clarification Mili., if the staff deems Boren to be worthy, he accepts, and became a member of the team then I would certainly support and root for him. Just as I do every member of the roster. Gonzo and Tj Downing etc. didn't have the superficial history(negative) that this situation has, at least in my mind. My statement was regarding me hoping he recieved an offer. As Shakerbuck reiterated in another post, little brother had strong things to say during the recruitment of older brother Justin, a player that we wanted very badly. Just call me skeptical that loyalties change so drastically in a short time. It is all moot anyway. I trust the staff, and if they want him, and think he has sincere interest they will pursue him. My thoughts were only to say that we've seen this movie before. Thanks...

13-year-olds grow up (he was 13 when he reportedly cried because his older brother was seriously considering Ohio State). He probably has a lot of friends who are Buckeye fans and hanging around them may have more than softened his anti-OSU stance. He may have noticed the difference between Tressel and Carr or the two programs in general and liked what he saw on the OSU side. He may have simply matured to the point where there is no longer any blind hatred of OSU, and his eyes opened to reality.

Keep in mind that his dad was born and raised in Ohio (Columbus area, IIRC) and wanted to go to Ohio State badly, and only went to Michigan because Ohio State didn't offer and Michigan did...he insists that his boys make their own decisions on their future.
