New additions as of 3/29/05 in red.

QUARTERBACKS:

Sean Hakes {TX}: What is not to like about a quarterback who is willing to come up and lay someone flat from the safety position. Sean’s video was good quality. You could see that was able to spot the open receiver quickly and deliver the ball on target. On a couple of passes Hakes threw off his back foot, but still had enough arm to place the ball where it was needed. He looked very nice on a couple of fade patterns. He rushed the ball very effectively. Many of the plays were designed runs, so you can see the confidence the coaching staff had in running abilities. Hakes is a big and fast quarterback. Because of the style offense he did not get to show his arm on any deep throws. If he shows the ability to deliver the deep ball at camps, then the offers should come pouring in.

D'Vontrey Richardson {GA}:
The video was very impressive. Richardson does it all! He played QB, WR, S, KR, PR, and K. He was explosive and shifty with the ball in his hands. He has a very easy over the top throwing motion. He also puts some zip on the ball. He even looks good at WR. This is overall one of the most impressive talents on film so far.

Miles Schlichter {OH}: Miles shows pretty solid arm strength, throwing the ball 40+ yards with some decent zip and accuracy. He throws well on the run as well. He has decent escapability, and does a great job on QB draws getting in behind his lineman and picking his hole. He is listed as 205 lbs. and plays like it. He doesn’t have a great 40 time yet, but he has decent game speed. He has a year to develop better techniques and mechanics.

Adam Weber {MN}: See above...Adam looks an awful lot like Miles. Adam is just a few inches taller and runs a 4.6 compared to Miles 4.9. He has great footwork in the pocket for being a high school junior (almost to the point that it looks like he watches film of Peyton Manning). He has a quick release, keeping the ball very close to his body when he throws. He throws very well on the run and has good escapability given his 4.6 speed. He is definitely not scared of contact. If you need a QB to pick up 4th and inches, Adam is your man.

Tim Tebow {FL}: This guy has all the throws, and shows very good awareness and speed on his scrambles. He finds the right lanes ala Krenzel, but with a lot more speed and shiftiness. He reminds me of Phillip Rivers throwing the ball, but with a ton more arm. Tebow will be a strong candidate for the nations #1 quarterback prospect.

RUNNING BACKS:

Chris Wells {OH}: Wells symbolizes the words “power back”. He shows great vision and acceleration to go along with a punishing running style. He has just enough shake to get himself in one on one situations where he can manhandle the defenders. He possesses good vision, and explodes through the hole at the point of attack.

C.J. Spiller {FL}: Good quality videos which show an athletic kid. Great speed and great moves. He is listed as 5-11, but appears a little smaller than that. Either way, he plays smaller when he is in behind his blockers, but then can either run by you or through you once he is in the open field. I think he might be a little unpolished at this point, i.e. little things like changing which hand he is carrying the ball with, etc. But he has a ton of athletic ability. C.J. is listed with a 4.4 and it looks like he is every bit that fast. He is a dangerous kick returner as well.

Javarris James {FL}: Javarris is a beast. He is only 205, but he plays like 235. Once he learns a little patience and how to keep his feet underneath himself instead of leaning forward because he is in such a hurry, he is going to be even more dangerous. The 4.4 in his profile is unconfirmed. I would want to see him run that at a camp before I believe it, but you cannot deny the pedigree. He is going to be a good one. Like I have heard some say about Chris Wells, I just hope he doesn't outgrow the RB position. He is one of the more impressive RBs so far this year.

Dorin D!ckerson {PA}: All clips show D!ckerson on offense. As a running back he possesses some admirable qualities. He had great hands, and nice vision. He made the first man miss in the hole on every highlight. He had as many clips receiving as he did running. He made great adjustments, and showed the skills to make a move and take it to the house after the catch. The reason I believe he is being talked about as a lb is speed. If he was a little faster he would undoubtedly be an offensive recruit.

Carlos Brown {GA}: Carlos is featured in two very high quality videos. In the first he is featured as a safety. It is a very short video, and he seems like a marginal defensive prospect. He looks like he needs to develop some confidence on that side of the ball to be a top notch talent. In the second video he is featured as a RB. He is a completely different player on offensive side of the ball. He lines up wherever he is going to get the touches in an option style offense. He shows great explosiveness at the line, and some open field shiftiness. Brown has the ability to take it all the way if he can operate with some space.

Munir Prince {MO}: Munir has explosive speed at the point of attack. He hits the holes very quickly and is able to change direction in the second level with ease. He runs a bit too tall for being a kid of 5-10, but that is something he will learn with experience. His 4.4 speed looks to be pretty accurate. Also has great hands out of the backfield and decent vision. He will be a solid get for Iowa or wherever he goes.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

David Ausberry {CA}: Great quality videos. As has been stated, David does not have blazing speed. But he does have enough speed to be able to get himself in a position to use his size to his advantage. He is terrific at going up and getting the ball at its highest point. I see why USC offered early. David reminds me of Patrick Turner from this past class. His speed may be a question mark for some, but he has enough speed to be able to use all of the other tools he has. If we are going to offer a WR in this class, I hope it is David and I hope it is soon.

Markieth Summers{MS}: He is a possession style receiver. He shows good hands, and seems to find the open spot on the field. He is rangy, and looks like he has good vision and body control for hauling in the long passes. At 6' 4", 190, he has the size that seems to be en vogue for wide receivers these days, and he appears to have soft hands and good concentration. I question whether he has "legit 4.45" speed, as he did get caught from behind on some plays; however, at other times, he seemed to "outrun" his QB, who under threw several deep passes for Markeith. In the videos provided he did not show much explosion after the catch, but the videos were very limited.

Rob Parris {OH}: Parris had a decent film. He looked good going over the middle for the ball, and showed good composure on the deep routes. He is not as smooth as some of the receivers, and did not have a clip available that really showed off his speed. He looks to be a possession style receiver.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN:

Lee Tilley {OH}: Just a few clips of Lee so far. This may not be a fair review seeing as though the video is from his junior year, and it is my understanding that Lee is in much better shape now. In these clips, Lee uses his size and not much technique. He doesn't seem to block with a lot of intensity. When he gets in close he is lethal, but he overextends, especially at the second level. His clips remind me some of Brandon Braxton. If his off-season workout progress is true, then I think you will probably see a big difference between Lee's junior highlights and senior highlights.

J.B. Walton {MD}: Only a few clips in one video reel, but his athleticism at 270 pounds is obvious. Though he is being looked at for offense, one of the highlights shows him playing DT, which seems like a good spot for him. If he grows another 2-3 inches and puts on 20 pounds without losing any mobility, you could be looking at an offensive tackle in the works. You can tell he loves hitting people, usually finding people to hit at the end of plays. He may be Maryland's to lose, but they are going to have to fight off several other schools.

Aaron Brown {OH}: The quality of the video was very poor. Brown seemed to have his way with his man constantly pushing him off the line, but it was near impossible to tell the technique or footwork involved.

Connor Smith {OH}: Conner’s videos were high quality and impressive. He looks to have amazing upper body strength, and always displays proper techniques. At one point in the video he enrages Antwon Hight by blowing him eight yards of the ball. Conner does not give up on blocks, and plays with a good motor. The films were from the State Championship, and if Connor plays with that intensity week to week he could be a very highly rated recruit.

Cody Faulkner {IN}: Faulkner looked good in his films. He figures to be a top rated Midwest offensive lineman, and it shows on film. He looks very nice at the point of attack. Although he does not always dominate his man, he always contains him.

Justin Boren {OH}: Justin mainly lines up at tackle in the videos I saw and although he is being recruited as a guard, he is very impressive. He blocks until the whistle and then some. He has very quick feet and does a good job of using his size and strength. His leverage and blanace are always in good alignment, and he seems to love planting defenders into the turf. He is fun to watch on film.

Bill Nagy {OH}: Nagy was very impressive on film. He shows good versatility as he he could play on either side of the ball on the next level. He shows good form and a no quit atttitude. What else could you ask for when watching a hilight film on lineman?

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN:

Tony Reed {OH}: Defensive tackle Tony Reed will certainly make a splash at the next level. Checking in at (6’1, 285), Reed is a run stuffing force in the middle of the field. He also plays the game with a great motor. He has good technique on the swim move, and shows the presence of mind to absolutely plant a running back, while coming off a very nimble spin move. It is just not natural to see a man of Reed’s size be that light of foot. On film, Reed is probably the most impressive defensive tackle in the state.

Brandon Warren {TN}: Brandon has Tennessee as his early favorite. His video is impressive. He plays WR for his high school team. He is already listed as 6-3 230 lbs. although he doesn't look quite that heavy. His hands, speed and athletic ability are impressive for someone carrying 225+. On defense he plays DE and is almost unblockable with 4.6 speed. He has the other team's tackles spinning in circles looking for him. Unless he grows some, it looks like he may be a future OLB.

Micah Johnson {KY}: I am not sure where to list Micah right now...his video clips show him playing LB, RB and DE. I have heard many speculate that he is being recruited as a DT, so that is where we are going to list him. Maryland and Virginia are recruiting him as a RB. Micah is a great run-stuffing LB right now, but looks big enough to play on the line in college. He carries his weight well and looks as quick as his 4.7 speed. I would want someone a bit taller to play DE, so it looks like his future may well be at DT. His clips on the line remind me a bit of Nader Abdallah.

LINEBACKERS:

Ross Homan {OH}: Not much to say that hasn’t already been said. Watching his video is like watching a copy of Marcus Freeman’s video from two years ago. Ross has great speed and the ability to hit the right gap to get to the ball carrier. He doesn’t have to shed many blockers because he is usually by them before they realize they missed their assignment. He is a terror stopping the run. He also is very active in pass defense and has the ability to cover some decent area. One thing he may need to work on is his tackling technique. He seems like he is so excited to hit someone that sometimes his technique suffers a bit. But his video is just fun to watch. It’s as if he lines up in the opposing team’s huddle. He knows exactly where to be and when to get there.

Marcus Ball {GA}: He is a very athletic LB prospect. He has great speed. He will be a great sideline to sideline linebacker as he shows the acceleration needed for outside pursuit. He has a few moments that are special as a tailback that solidify his athletic ability. He also will also lay the wood to oncoming running backs. He reminds me of a Xavier Adibi/Ernie Sims style LB.

Cobrani Mixon {OH}: Cobrani is very athletic at the LB position. Technique is something that comes with time and coaching, and if he can develop that, he could become an impressive LB recuit. Obviously his ability to stay healthy will be another issue. He is great in run defense, often shedding blocks and making tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Camps will obviously be important for Cobrani.

A.J. Edds {IN}: A.J.'s videos are almost all of him in pass defense. He is obviously very athletic for his size. I still think he could grow into a DE, especially already being 6-4. He has great hands and also is a solid tackler in space. A solid prospect whose stock is continuing to rise.

Akeem Hebron {MD}: From his spot at linebacker, Akeem is a vicious hitter. He explodes on the ballcarrier. He also shows the ability to bull rush past the line and administer the type of hits that will have the quarterback constantly looking over his shoulder. Akeem shows great speed, with the ability to police the field from sideline to sideline. He is speedy enough to play either linebacker or safety. Hebron's film has been the most impressive from a linebacker thus far, and it is also against solid competition

DEFENSIVE BACKS:

Asher Allen {GA}: Asher's clips as a safety are VERY impressive. He gets off blocks and attacks the ball well. He flies up in run support and hits people hard. He is both a ball hawking safety and a run stuffing safety. He has soft hands and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. As a RB, he shows good acceleration and quickness, and uses his blockers well. Depending on how is he used during his senior year, I think he looks like more of a safety prospect right now. His highlights as a RB are also very impressive. He has great agility and is fantastic on draws and slip screens. I wouldn’t be opposed to offering him on either side of the ball. Asher is also a talented kick returner.

Jovani Chappel {OH}: I was excited to see Chappel's video to see how much his size is a factor. His video is awfully impressive. He uses his whole body to move quickly, pumping his arms and chopping his feet. And then when he breaks on the ball, he does so in a hurry. His jumping ability is also very impressive (his vertical jump is listed at 33 inches, but it looked better than that). He is also not afraid to lay the wood on opposing ballcarriers with good form tackles. I have to say that I think despite the comparisons because of size, Jovani's video is more impressive than Brandon Harrison's was.

He displays great hands on both sides of the ball. He will make a wideout pay for coming over the middle. He seems to be constantly in position to make a play on the ball. I can see how he is the top rated prospect in the sunshine state.

He shows good hands and great shifty moves as a wide out. Despite all the huge plays he had on offense, Walls was even more impressive as a corner. He showed aggression and good tackling skills in run support. He also has the ability to get a good break on the ball when it is in the air. He may be the best corner in the nation.
