I'm sure most of you won't agree, but it's time for Matta to go. That or find some better assistants who can produce with the raw talent we get. Matta is a fantastic recruiter, but honestly at best is a decent coach. His record is impressive and almost all of that is due to raw talent like the Oden's, Sullingers, Thomas's etc. This team really bothered me this year. Craft didn't get any better offensively, neither did Scott, nor Amir, nor Lenzelle. Thompson and Q were the only two who looked to progress from last year. Our offense looked putrid today in my mind. Watching Cuse playing, their offense just has so much more flow, movenment, post ups, the whole thing. We are missing that. We didn't have a knock down shooter this year and often times we played to the level of our opponent, which is why I strongly consider taking UD over us in my bracket.

Great recruiter but the man doesn't have a great track record of producing great players from that raw talent like Ohio State should. I appreciate how he put Ohio State bball back on the map, but that was with recruiting not producing great players all that much.

How I miss the days of being able to ding complete idiots. Sweet Sixteen 4 of the last 5 years (along with a ton of other achievements) and Bozo wants to dump him. What have you done for me lately is one thing, but the last Sweet Sixteen was last year. Debate is one thing. Idiocy is something else.

You're head of the search committee. Who is your first interview? Who do you ultimately hire?

How cute, the old 'Matta recruits talent but doesn't get credit for their play because that was just their awesomeness' schtick.

Yes, THIS team has problems and it is essentially the same team as last year. That's a totally reasonable reason to fire a coach who has had a host of strong to great squads before this one and has won 20 games every time out (and usually B1G hardware).

Yeah, Dials, Conley, Oden, Lewis, Turner, Diebler, Sullinger were so average. If only Matta would have done his job when he inherited a football school in a tailspin. A real coach would have turned this forgotten basketball destination into a top-3 dynasty instead of the top-8ish program they have been since he took over.

Jim Boeheim! Isn't it obvious?
Don't want him. It took him 27 years to win his first championship... that's too long!
I want Roy Williams. Oh wait, he didn't win one in his 15 years at Kansas... nevermind!
Bring back Lute Olsen. You're telling me it took him over 20 years to get his only title. I 'ain't got time for that!
Well, let's poach from the Big Ten. Bring in Izzo! Dang, take him off the list too, he hasn't won a title in 14 years.
How about John Calipari? He's on a recent title... except for I don't want OSU to be on the NCAA sanction train again.
I vote for Billy Donovan, just to complete the Florida to OSU circle-of-life.

For the perspective of the "get rid of Matta" crowd (which thankfully is very, very small here)... coaches that have won a National Title since Matta started coaching at Xavier (2000-2001):
Coach K (2001, 2010) - Will retire/die at Duke
Gary Williams (2002) - Retired
Jim Boeheim (2003) - Will retire/die at Syracuse
Jim Calhoun (2004, 2011) - Will retire/die at Connecticut
Roy Williams (2005, 2009) - Will retire/die at North Carolina
Billy Donovan (2006, 2007) - Turned down job in NBA to stay at Florida... not going anywhere.
Bill Self (2008) - Won his at Kansas in year 5, but year 15 of being a HC. He's never leaving Kansas unless they are stupid and run him out of town.
John Calipari (2012) - Walking NCAA sanction, perfect fit for Kentucky
Rick Pitino (2013) - Anyone want him? Not I.

Every single one of them has been coaching longer than Matta by at least 5 years or are now retired. I'm elated to have Matta at OSU, he's arguably the most successful coach in history... if he gets that national title there will be no doubt he's OSU's best coach of all time.
