The Most Power-Drunk
I need some IT guru to tell me how to get around the firewall so I can still get to BP from work. It's new...I had a backdoor server, but they made it a password-only server, so now I'm effed...anyone have any ideas?

You could start taking the firewall guy to lunch...

Chances are you can't get around it, and chances more that what is blocking you isn't the firewall but a webfilter. Bonus if it is, because then all you would need to do it bypass the proxy (almost all webfilter software is run through the proxy server, bounced off a database and given the "yeah", or "ney") bypass the proxy, bypass the webfilter. The other bonus you might have is that webfilters usually filter by domain name, whereas firewall by IP depending on what kind of firewall it is. If it is a webfilter you could still access BP by using the IP (http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX), bummer about that is that as soon as you click a link it will go back to domain name and probably screw you again.

So, short story long, unless you really want to start memorizing URL's with front end IP, it's going to be much easier to suck up to the IT guy.

You might want to find out if they've installed "key-logging" software. If so, they'll know every site (really every single word you type into any program) you visit, but you won't know until they call you into the office.

Can't this be beaten by typing letters out of sequence, and moving the cursor with the mouse to change the position of where you're typing?

Can't bypass the proxy, because all of those sites are also blocked (and apparently red-flagged - oops).

It's Websense. And it's a bunch of crap. Doesn't matter anymore (hopefully) because I got an IT guy to give me password access to the backdoor server, so hopefully I'm cool now. Thanks for all the help to everyone.
