Fishing (Official Thread)

fished the little pond yesterday afternoon -caught about 7 or 8 largemouth bass that were in the 6-9" range, caught 2 that were 14-15", and caught one catfish that was probably around 18". my daughter touched a fish for the first time yesterday (she's 20 months) - it was cute

I remember the first time I caught a bluecat, and got it to "bark" for my daughter. She didn't know what to think. She knew cats were supposed to meow. She said, "Mommy, are you sure that's not a dogfish?"

got to work early, fished the pond behind the office for about 15-20 minutes, caught 3 smaller largemouth bass (biggest was only 8"). now work for a few hours, then walk to to fish the pond for lunch too!

Great fun there. I can't tell you how often i've heard the "no way there's any fish in that pond" stuff.. :)

Sunday I took my grandson to a kids fishing tournament at Oak openings State Park. He won 2nd place in his age group with a 1 3/4 lb. channel cat.

Bass masters Classic is now going on . Any one else watching it on ESPN 2 ?

I was watching more of it than the Memphis - Tennessee game.

I can't get over how low the water is down there because of the drought. ESPiN is killing me showing this though. Can't wait for spring to get here, I have done a little ice fishing up here in Erie on the bay but it is few and far between because the ice has come and gone this winter. Spring fishing up here on and around Presque Isle State Park is great for slabs. From mid-April to the end of May the fishing in a few of the ponds out on the park borders on unfair. A friend of mine and I pulled about 40 slabs each out of a pond in the park last year on more than one occasion. Summer is good for Walleye and Perch once they run to deeper water in the main lake, once you get on them you can hit them all day. And Largemouth hang in the shallows in the bay most of the spring and summer. My fishing had slowed until I moved up here years ago, but it is so easy living this close to the lake to just keep the rods and reels in the Jeep and throw a line in the bay or lake after work. That is the best part of living by the lake to me.

BTW, Kevin Vandam could catch fish in a mud puddle.

If it's in Ohio we can keep it well exercised. If it isn't , you need to get it here so I can keep it from gathering rust.
It's in Oklahoma in a 24 x 24 metal shop that was built, insulated, and wired just for this boat. I haven't even had a chance to put it in the water yet with the weather and work, but she's safe and sound in the shop.

AW Cmon , we all know there is no water in Oklahoma big enough to put a boat into. Just ship it back here and I will see that it never gets lonely sitting in a 24 x 24 metal shop that was built, insulated, and wired.
