Elias Ricks (DB LSU, transfer to Bama)

... nobody really knows anything unless it comes from Elias himself. This is reaching a point where it’s gone entirely off the rails and the rumors are unfair to both Elias and his family.
The downside of the explosion in recruiting interest is this kind of crap. I'd love for Elias to switch his commitment to the Buckeyes. I'd hate to see the reaction of some fans if he were not to do so.

Just read an article on 247 with a quote..."it would take something major for me to decommit from LSU"....I think the author inserted something like a coaching change would be "major".

I was bored last night and looked at his Twitter, very cryptic messages, perhaps having to do with his decision to leave his California teammates...who knows....

Ricks' recruitment will be fun to watch because I feel like we'll have most of this class locked in by the end of the summer, then we just can swing for the fence and hope to land Ricks as "gravy" near the end. Ricks would be an unreal get and that is why there are quotes around gravy, but I think the reality is that our DB class is starting to look like Lejond, Phillips, Ransom, and Martinez. That would be an incredible class and then it allows the staff to go big and chase after Ricks and Ringo if we can convince either to hop on board. Ricks looks like a much more legit possibility than Ringo at this given time, but its a great position to be sitting in.

OHIO STATE
"When they started recruiting me, they've always been the same. Even when I committed, I had a long talk with Coach Meyer and he let us know he's still going to recruit me. When they started recruiting me they went really hard and that's kind of why they're getting an official."

Difference from Meyer to Day: "Not really. They both like to stay in contact daily, like every single day. They're on their P's and their Q's. It's not really much of a difference to be honest."

New defensive backs coach: "Coach Hafley, he's real cool. We talk every day too. He came up to my school when I was at Mater Dei. He's just a real down-to-Earth cool guy and he coached in the league. He coached Joe Hayden and Richard Sherman, so he knows guys in the league who have been where I want to go."

USA TODAY INCLUDES BUCKEYES IN PRESEASON ALL-USA TEAMS
USA Today released its 2019 ALL-USA Preseason high school selections on offense and defensethis week, and several Buckeyes were included.

Headlining the group on offense were Paris Johnson Jr. and Julian Fleming, but Luke Wypler was also included from the 2020 class. Marvin Harrison Jr. was listed for the 2021 class as well. On defense, Ohio State commits Clark Phillips and Jack Sawyer were featured. Five-star cornerback Elias Ricks, No. 1 2021 cornerback Tony Grimes and five-star 2021 athlete Emeka Egbuka were included.

It’s difficult to name All-USA teams teams, so the task was a mighty one to take on for USA Today, but as far as how to look at these selections from an Ohio State standpoint, there are a few observations.

His publicly committed team won big on a super stage. I can easily understand why he’d be excited for them and excited to be apart of what that team was about. And he might just get to see OSU and LSU go head to head if both teams continue at the current pace. But, even then, I doubt it changes things too much.

Would be after early signing day anyways which is when pretty much all "commited" prospects sign. Plus I'm not sure you really want a kid who switched to you on who you beat. With the transfer portal around all ift takes is being buried on the depth chart and behing home sick your freshman year to be gone. So you might want to look at deeper reasons for commitments.
