2023 FL DB Dijon Johnson (Ohio St. decommit, Florida Signee)

If this does come to fruition: he chose to stay close to home for personal reasons (rumored to be having a child), a path revealed itself how he could handle that situation while still going to Ohio State when it became apparent it was an issue (probably through NIL money), he accepted the option that allowed him to still go to Ohio State and recommits.

It seems pretty straightforward to me.

Your logic is sound, but that's asking a lot of an 18 year old.

I’m assuming Brian Schottenstein bought some houses in Columbus…or something.

I feel like entire families relocating to the place where their kid has chosen to go in the SEC is common enough that it can’t be illegal, or at the very least is not competently enforced by the NCAA.

Here’s hoping it’s just allowed now, because I’m sure Ohio State would be the team to get hammered for something like that even though it’s done without punishment constantly.

This is tough no matter where he is located and don’t wish this responsibility on any incoming freshman dealing with school and football. That being said, if he has the financial means and feels that Ohio State puts him in the best position to get him to the league in 3-4 years then he is making a good family decision long term. I sure wish him the best of luck going to be a challenging few years

What a bizarre situation...'crootin never disappoints I guess. I will say that if he has a kid on the way, I can't imagine how hard the decision is with football. Was never going to fault the kid either way, but definitely sympathize with the factors he has to take into account. Would love him in Columbus, but understand if he sticks closer to home.

I wonder if an NIL can be struck that offers his kid and BM housing. Idk all the ins and outs of NIL, but wondering if something like that can be worked out

Agree it will be a tough situation, but there are good support options and the best coach and school for that are Day and tOSU.

Things have flipped again in this recruitment and what looked like a done deal to Ohio State is on the rocks again.

The rumor is that Johnson wanted back in but Ryan Day had final say and it’s being held up.

Following up on my previous speculation with additional pure speculation, I’m assuming Day/Ohio State compliance told Brian Schottenstein that he wasn’t allowed to buy people houses.
