‘Family issues’ trigger Adam Lane’s transfer from Gators

In a statement, Jim McElwain announced that Adam Lane has decided to transfer out of his UF football program. According to the first-year head coach, unspecified “family issues” triggered the running back’s decision to move on from the Gators.

Adam Lane has some family issues that he is dealing with and wants to be closer to home,” McElwain said. “As you’ve heard me say many times family comes first in this program and we will grant him his release and we will do everything we can to help him.”

Lane, the father of two children, was a three-star member of UF’s 2013 recruiting class, rated as the No. 29 back in the country coming out of high school in Winter Haven, Fla. Entering Florida’s Birmingham Bowl appearance this past season armed with 72 career rushing yards, Lane ripped off 109 yards and scored his first career touchdown in earning MVP honors in the win over East Carolina.

Late last month, Lane and a teammate, defensive tackle Caleb Brantley, were each charged with second-degree misdemeanor offenses, defrauding an innkeeper under $300, after skipping out on their tab at a Gainesville bowling alley. Brantley has, while Lane has been offered a similar deal as well, although that has yet to be finalized. The running back is responsible for $16.93 of the tab; Brantley was responsible for $42.34.

Just sayin'; It is only 130 miles from Winter Haven to Gainesville, there can't be too many colleges any closer to his home.....:sarcastic:
