FL (TX) RB Noah Cain (Penn State Signee)

5-star RB Noah Cain says Ohio State has ‘solidified itself’ among his top schools

Noah Cain emerged among America’s premier young running backs as an underclassman at Guyer (Denton, Texas) High School and continues to warrant widespread attention at national powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida. The 5-star prospect has his pick of more than 20 universities, but explained Wednesday that one particular program stands out.

“Right now the school that solidified itself is Ohio State,” Cain said when asked which teams he intends to include in a top-5 list this offseason.

The Buckeyes hosted the Class of 2019 star in Columbus this season for a matchup vs. Oklahoma, and sustained communication has helped separate Ohio State from a crowded pack.

“Just talking to them on an everyday basis, either Coach [Urban] Meyer or [running backs coach Tony] Alford,” Cain said during media day for the Future 50 event at the Under Armour All-America Game. “They came down to IMG a lot of times and spoke with me. They’re just a good staff that I have a relationship with.”

Considered a 5-star recruit and the No. 2 running back prospect in the 2019 composite rankings, his rapport with the program extends to the Ohio State roster.

“I’ve developed an awesome bond with some of the players like J.K. Dobbins,” Cain said. “He’s like a big brother to me now. … I’ve bonded with him the most during my visits up there.”

Cain, a 5-foot-11, 207-pound junior, enjoyed watching the fellow Lone Star State product make an immediate impact at Ohio State. Dobbins gained 1,538 yards from scrimmage as a Buckeyes freshman, scoring 8 touchdowns.

“That’s big because a lot of schools are starting to understand it’s about the most talented guy instead of the seniority of the guy’s grade,” he said. “It’s really all about how you compete and how you handle your business in the classroom, from what the coaches tell me, so I know when I come in there I’m just going to handle my business and expect to get that starting job.”

Noah's the real deal. Well-rounded. Can see why everyone's beating down the doors for him

Hoping the staff is telling him about how he could be the Zeke in our offense. If JK kills it this year (like he should), it ought to only make Noah more interested in us with regards to getting him ready for the next level. It's not theory... it's testimony... on the big stage

Ohio State picked up a surprising crystal ball today from Demetric Warren (Director of Recruiting at VarsityPreps, not an OSU insider).

Texas still leads with 56%, Ohio State is second with 19%, followed by LSU with 12%, Miami 6%, and 6% cloudy.

Cain has been the #1 guy I have wanted in this class at RB. If things started trending up with him, I would be thrilled.
