WR Bryson Rodgers (Official Thread)

WR Bryson Rodgers – Ohio State
On3 is already higher on Ohio State commit Bryson Rodgers than the rest of the industry, but the On300 prospect’s positive showing is still worth noting. We considered Rodgers as one of the 2023 cycle’s top route runners entering the event. While he lived up to those expectations, the Zephyrhills (Fla.) Wiregrass Ranch pass-catcher showed some encouraging playmaking ability after the catch, as well. Rodgers found the end zone often while playing for a 24K team that was among the better squads throughout pool play. He has a thinner frame and may not be as long as some other top receivers, but has a level of technicality that points to a high floor at the next level. There’s naturally less upward mobility the higher a prospect is ranked, but Rodgers deserves to see his On3 Consensus ranking rise after OT7.

Another guy Hartline sees something in, more than the rest of country, and it's starting to pay off. Similar to Kyion Graves and Chris Olave before

Certainly agree that most schools trying to flip Bryson are using tOSU's 'stacked' WR room to sway him to be the big star at their program. Could be enticing certainly, but keeping his eyes on the prize of a big NFL payday, from the Hartline training, and the great QBs that are on tOSU field and in the pipeline hopefully overrides these temptations. He seems to have many of the abilities of one Freddy Biletnikoff (sp?), who wasn't the fasted, biggest, or smoothest, but did soooo well that he has a trophy named after him as the 'best WR in college football' (my paraphrase). Matched up with our current WR stable, Freddy wouldn't have seen the field much would he? Catching the ball and extending the play seems to be what Hartline teaches oh so well, and when one has the talent wanting to sign up and learn from him, it speaks well of their intelligence as well as their skills. Go Bucks!

Sort of to your point, we can also sell that a similarly underrated WR in Olave paved his way right through a crowded WR room because of his talent and the work he put in. No reason Bryson can't do the same thing, albeit that I do think the WR is a tad more stacked than when Olave came in. But sounds like he might not be underrated for very long.

Maybe, but Olave was playing with guys like Campbell, McLaurin, Hill, Jamo, JSN, and Wilson. That is a STACKED WR room. Bryson is legit NFL material if he starts here

RB, Great selling point....you do the work and anything can happen. It'll be too late, but see Marvin doing that exact thing this year. He's put the work in the weight room - he's ripped - and betcha he's been running routes either by himself, or with any QB that'll throw to him. Proof will be in the pudding.....

I went back and added "tad" for that reason. Mostly Campbell and McLaurin, plus Hill and Dixon. That's some really solid guys. But on paper, for the recruitniks anyways, JSN, MH Jr, Fleming, Ballard and all the incoming class is arguably harder to crack. Might be negligible at days end but yeah, point is a freshman can get real PT even with a tall pecking order. And if I recall correctly, Olave only really broke through in The Game his freshman year at the end of the season.

100%, Bryson has a great blueprint for success here and seems to fit that mold. I think we'll see Marvin Jr ball out along with Fleming and some other young breakout, and the pipeline will keep flowing.

Hawkfan, you nailed it. However, ttun will never have enough talented dbs to cover all tOSU's wrs. Maybe Harbaugh will figure out a loophole to allow him to put 12-13 defenders on the field? Only way I see ttun doing this, unless they all hold...
