That’s literally been their recruiting strategy for over a decade. And all you have to do is look up their players quotes and it proves it.

I'm from that area. Warren is a crapshoot... alot of great Buckeyes have come out of Warren, but unfortunately more than a few great Wolvereenies have come from Warren as well. So you can't tell of people's loyalties in that area.

FLORIDA WIDE RECEIVER BRYSON RODGERS HAS PLENTY OF OHIO ROOTS, REASONS TO PLAY FOR OHIO STATE
Bryson Rodgers currently resides in Florida, and has for a good portion of his life.
But make no mistake about it, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound four-star 2023 wide receiver has plenty of Ohio roots. Early in his life, Rodgers lived in Warren, Ohio, for around two years. Then his family decided to relocate.
“My mom and dad thought it would be best to go because the city was getting bad and there just wasn’t great opportunities for me with football, because at a very young age my dad knew I was going to play football or baseball just like he did,” Rodgers told Eleven Warriors. “They wanted to give me the best opportunity, and that was moving to Florida.”
Despite the move to the Sunshine State, Rodgers would visit Ohio yearly, spending six to eight weeks of the summer in Warren visiting old friends and relatives. When it came to football, there were no questions where Rodgers’ loyalties belonged.
“I’m still an Ohio boy at heart,” Rodgers said. “I grew up an Ohio State fan and love watching Big Ten football. I love Ohio State considering the offense they run and the culture they have. What it means to be an Ohio State Buckeye is what I grew up on. I’ll always love ‘em, so I definitely grew up a fan.”
Jan. 26 was a life-changing day for Rodgers. Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline stopped by Wiregrass Ranch High School (Zephyrhills, Florida) not once but twice during the school day. Once in the late morning to chat with Rodgers for around 20 to 25 minutes, then later in the afternoon to speak with Rodgers and his high school offensive coordinator and defensive line coach. At the end of the day, Rodgers was presented with his dream scholarship offer from Ohio State.

A small part of Bryson Rodgers can’t believe he’s committed to playing for the Ohio State football team.
The Warren, Ohio, native turned Florida standout earned his scholarship offer back in January, and in four months, he was a Buckeye. Some of that is the result of watching the program’s 2020 starting wide receiver corps go 10th, 11th and 12th in the 2022 NFL Draft, but that’s the most obvious point anyone can point to.
The more important point is that he saw the value that came with — for lack of a better way of putting it — being chosen by Brian Hartline. The wide receiver coach can hand-pick anybody he wants, often taking the nation’s best.
Then there’s Rodgers, the outlier in all that with a chance to solidify Hartline’s eye for talent.
“As soon as I got to meet coach Hartline, we had a pretty different bond than I did with other coaches,” Rodgers told cleveland.com. “I could tell his genuine interest off the rip. Coming all the way down to my school, taking a chance on a kid that’s going to school that plays good competition at the 7A level but going out and he’s only taken four guys.”
Rodgers likes using the phrase, “taking a chance” when describing the dynamic between him and Hartline. He doesn’t take his OSU offer lightly. It’s a big deal for him to play for the school he grew up loving. But it’s also a big deal that the opportunity is even available to him.
“It’s a really big deal to any Ohio kid,” Rodgers said. “It’s always something I dreamed of. Once coach Hartline granted me that opportunity. It’s almost was pretty much a no-brainer.”
Every scholarship player in his room right now was ranked among the top 151 in their best recruiting class. That includes three five-stars, two of which were the top receiver overall.
