Game Thread Florida A&M Rattlers at tOSU, Sep 21, 12 ET, BTN

I loved how Kenny was throwing it all over the field to any open Scarlet shirt. Now granted, he had all day to throw sometimes. But still, not since Troy have I seen an OSU QB survey the field like that. KG might not have the talent that Brax has, but he sure does reads the Defense and makes all the right reads. I just can't say enough about him. Ok, enough of my school girl gushing. :)

This game has nothing to do with the Vandy game, though.

This game is par for the course in big time college football, especially in the SEC. Look at the schedule, this was supposed to be a "recovery" game after a big (except Cal isn't as good as we'd originally hoped) game that allows the team to get healthy and get some time for backups before B1G play. But the perception is a lot worse since Cal sucked. The crying and complaints would be few and far between if this game was sandwiched in between UNC & Oklahoma in 2015. This was a good scheduling move, IMO.
I disagree completely. This was the only scheduling move we could make, but awful.

I think we are a good team but this isn't helpful.

Well, if you're gonna wear baby seal coats, someone's gonna have to swing the club.

I don't think it's all bad - now you have game film for virtually everyone on the roster. There will be a building confidence from everyone on the team that played today, they'll now have done it in a game in the shoe as well.

cupcakes have their purposes - but it would have been nice to lay the beating on Vandy instead.

As a coach I can appreciate being on both sides of games like this. When you're on our side you get benefits that you just can't get from practices. First is the opportunity to work out some timing / fine tuning issues. While a higher level of competition would have been better, this was little more than a spring game. It was good to see things executed against someone going 100%. Granted their 100% wasn't as high as 90% from Vandy et al. The second thing that cannot be minimized is the field time for the kids who work their asses off in practice and the weight room. You've got to remember that anyone on this team, walk-ons included, were likely the best players on their previous team. Keeping them engaged and hungry is a good thing. A taste of fresh blood, if you've not tasted it lately, is one hell of a motivator.

Good win today.
