Florida Gators (official thread)

There's a lot of criticism one can make of death threat sharkman... Mullen's own class transferring as soon as they step foot on campus is not one of them.

If Day flops, you think we'll all be blaming Urban... or Day and staff?
I know who Ubet blamed after Urban. Seems like a pattern.

I blamed Urban. Thanks for validating my opinion.

Urban flamed out. Spectacularly. Like Ignatius J. Reilly, Urban's pyloric valve was always giving out. See massive negative bandwidth content, Buckeye Plant, Urban Meyer thread. I mean, of course, before he came down from ESPN, like Athena springing from Zeus' forehead, smiting all things skunk bear while holding a giant pair of golden pants.

. And, of course, the long fall from Urban to Champ to Shark Boy to Mullen is not all on Shark Boy. But he is reviled for tanking what good will we had left. And the last guy to leave is always the fall guy. True dat.

Shark Boy is to Florida what Jon Embree was to Colorado. The guy before him (Muschamp/Hawkins) dug a grave for the program and then Shark Boy/Embree threw it in there and piled on the dirt. Florida of course has a much higher program ceiling than Colorado so we'll see if Mullen is just McIntyre (dug CU out of the grave but couldn't get them up and running much) or a savior.

I'll play. First, you had no 'question' pending on the thread. And your comment about 'deflection' when in the same sentence you bash defense lawyers and reference Aaron Hernandez seems sort of - I dunno - not your best work. Second, I'm gonna have to question your self proclaimed status as competent arbiter of logical fallacies, as you fail to say what part of my post was illogical or a non sequitur. I did not affirm the consequent or deny the antecedent. But kettle logic on my brother.

We had a shit offense in Muschamp. That is the greatest sin of all. Tresselball will eventually get you gone from a fan base weaned on the Fun-n-Gun, no matter if you win the East. We are weird like that. The Shark Fucker was tasked with improving our offense and making it Spurrier/Urban exciting. Muschamp's offensive ranking went 105, 104, 115, 96. Shark boy took the 96 and went 112, 116. And the longer the season went, the worse the offenses got, in general. Mullen did not improve the ranking, but we did see improvement over the year. We scored 17 points in losses against UGA and S. Carolina in games 8 & 9, and , and scored 41 in our rivalry with FSU and tsun in games 12 and 13. That was mo' bettah. He damn sure better improve the offense in 2019.

We owned the least exciting offense to attract any stud offensive player for years. Add to that Shark Boy souring relationships through the state. So feel free to show me that Shark Boy was beloved of the HS coaches in our former Gator-centric recruiting grounds, or that relationships with HS coaches is over-rated. And, of course, the long fall from Urban to Champ to Shark Boy to Mullen is not all on Shark Boy. But he is reviled for tanking what good will we had left. And the last guy to leave is always the fall guy. True dat.

.

Aaron Hernandez is relevant since you're blaming last coach for Mullen recruiting questionable players.
As already pointed out, UF has a long history of that before Mullen and McElwain.

No wall of text is going to make McElwain responsible for Mullen's scouting, recruiting, and failure to retain his own guys... but leave it to a lawyer to try.
Just like you're still trying to blame Urban for everything after him.

PS It was nice to have Urban, but we had a decade kicking Michigan's ass before him, and I expect our next guy to continue that tradition.

I'm not sure their ceiling is that much higher... they certainly think of themselves like Texas, but there's a reason only 2 of their coaches are worth a damn and their SEC record is in the .500s including losing records to Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Missouri.
The only blueblood school they have a winning record against is LSU 33-29-3.
McElwain is their norm, not the exception.
