Might need to add ucla to the "they're back" parade. A few wins and chip kelly = nc contenders next year im sure.
UCLA was NEVER anywhere close to relevant to ever be back. They're essentially in the same spot. They have nothing to go back to, what the glory days of Cade McKnown?

I mean, during Terry Donahue days they did go 144-81-8 with 13 bowl appearances (8-4-1). 1982-1988 seems to be their highlight.

37 Bowl games with a record of 17-19-1 and 5-7 in the Rose Bowl (last in 1998).

I LOL'd good when I saw they always fall flat after consecutive 10-win seasons.

1987 10-2
1988 10-2
1989 3-7-1

1997 10-2
1998 10-2
1999 4-7

2013 10-3
2014 10-3
2015 8-5

Fun fact: Only National Championship is 1954. It appears they share that with some team out of the Midwest. They were denied the Rose Bowl because it would have been consecutive years. The B1G really needs to fuck off from the Rose Bowl. Why would they deny two undefeated teams the chance to play for some dumbass rule like that? Rant over.

You may all continue talking about the SEC now.

Ohio State played Southern Cal in the Rose Bowl after the 1954 season. The Buckeyes beat the Trojans, 20-7, to complete a perfect 10-0-0 season.

Ohio State (10-0-0) and UCLA (9-0-0) split the national championship in 1954, with the Buckeyes winning the AP title, and UCLA winning the coaches title and the FWAA title.

UCLA was not allowed to participate in the Rose Bowl following the 1954 season due to the "no repeat" rule that was then in place, so college football fans were denied a Game of the Century with the top two teams in the country squaring off on New Year's Day. It might have been a great game, and it certainly would have determined which team was better on the field, but that hypothetical Rose Bowl matchup would NOT have changed the national championship outcomes. Back in 1954 (and continuing in part until 1973), national champions were selected prior to the bowl games, which were considered to be exhibition games devoid of any real meaning. Ohio State had already been voted the 1954 AP national champion prior to the Rose Bowl, and win, lose, or draw the Buckeyes were going to remain the AP national champion after the Rose Bowl. Same with UCLA and their pre-bowl 1954 national championships.
