Florida State Seminoles (official thread)

Well that was no fun. Every one seems to be backing off Norvell.

Until next time, Noles.

Doak Campbell Stadium was opened in 1950 and named in honor of Doak S. Campbell, the university’s president at the time. Campbell helped guide the university’s transition from the Florida College for Women to FSU in 1947. However, Campbell was also reportedly a pro-segregationist, going so far as to forbid the student newspaper from reporting on racial segregation.

Jimbo Fisher on leaving Florida State for Texas A&M: A 'no-brainer'
Dec 4, 2017

At his introductory press conference Monday, Jimbo Fisher said it was "a no-brainer" to leave Florida State for Texas A&M.

Fisher, who agreed to a 10-year, $75 million contract with the Aggies, cited his relationship with athletic director Scott Woodward and the school's resources as the main factors in his decision. Woodward and Fisher overlapped at LSU from 2000-2004.

"I say this all the time in coaching," Fisher said. "You can have Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll — you can have the greatest coaches in the world. But if your administration doesn't see things the way you see things and allow you to do things that way, nothing can be achieved."

Jimbo Fisher to FSU: Do you miss me yet?

Fisher is a huge reason FSU is in this mess in the first place. I'm guessing most noles fans don't miss him

Hey Noles fans, would you prefer:

A. Jimbo Fisher as head coach running his usual "tight ship" program, a Heisman contending QB with character issues just as bad or worse than Jameis Winston, and the team competing with Clemson for the ACC and National Championships, etc.

or

B. The current state of affairs with the Florida State football program.

I'm guessing that most FSU fans would vote "A".

Except Jimbo went 7-6 in his last year at FSU and abandoned a sinking ship that he was the captain of. Option A didn't exist and he's partly responsible for option B

It didn't?

In eight years at Florida State, Fisher accumulated an 83–23 record, a 2013 BCS national championship, three ACC conference championships, four Atlantic Division titles (three outright, one shared), four AP Poll top 10 finishes, and four bowl game victories. His .783 winning percentage is the highest in FSU history.

Are you purposely being obtuse about this? Lloyd Carr won an NC in 1997. Was scUM a national title contender in his last year?

It was blatantly obvious that the program was spiraling out of control during his last years. I don't know why you're painting a picture that he still had them in title contention on par with Clemson before he left
