For The Vinyl Curious..Start Out Cheap

I have the turntable referenced in the article. It is a good one for beginners. Skip those speakers though and get a 2-channel receiver and a couple bookshelf speakers. You can put together your own basic setup for a fraction of the price of the speakers in that article.

The idea is for those who are or have a small amount of cash to spend. We all have our preferences on "gear". Like I'd rather use a used oan old laptop for a media server and run that into the speakers above. You get internet radio that way as well as your music off the hard drive. And it sounds very good.

Which is why jlb was suggesting to go a cheaper route for the speakers.

Got some old records but nothing to play them on?
Or want to give records a shot?

For the vinyl curious: A complete $380 hi-fi system for LPs & audio files

The Audiophiliac matches the Audio Technica AT LP60 turntable with a pair of Audioengine A2+ speakers -- the combination really clicked!

I know this is a old post but do you still have any Technica turntables for sale? My husband is retired and collects old audio and slides / negatives.

Not a dealer.
Check out your nearby audio dealer. Even a Best Buy could probably hook you up with a turntable. Denon is another great entry level brand.
Probably not a good idea to buy a used turntable as they are one of the most fragile of components.
