Not a follower of OHSAA football anymore, but where is UA talent-wise in comparison to the rest of the city/state?

I fixed it for you SIMV :wink2:

St Thomas looks absolutely dominant. Curious if its just how good they are, or if UA is not a good team.

They are a very good team.
Not Great, but they have won state championships in the past.
They are a consistent playoff team, that usually goes a round or two deep into the state playoffs.

Upper Arlington is a solid program, but I wouldn't put them in the same conversation as the states best these days. They are good enough to make it to the playoffs consistently but they don't have the playmakers or athletes to really compete with the big boys of D1, which is clearly evident in this game. STA's speed is just too much.

I don't think anyone in the state of Ohio is as good as STA but there's a handful of teams that would make a game out of it. I really just don't understand the Herbstreit Showdown people pairing these two teams up.

The only teams that could have hung with Aquinas were probably Iggy, Glenville or St. X. Glenville would have probably gave them the best matchup with their speed. Even at that, Aquinas is just flat out sick and I don't see anyone beating them unless they had a terrible day. Terrible matchup and I don't really even see the point in bringing Aquinas all the way up for this. Does anyone ever remember a team being as loaded as Aquinas with college prospects?

Probably Lakeland, Florida when they had SEVEN players commit to UF in one class....

UpperArlington / Aquinas of Florida high school football

I stumbled on a game on ESPN today and I noticed the "horseshoe block O" logo right away so i tuned in. It was Upper Arlington playing Aquinas of Florida from the shoe. It looked as if it was live today but maybe it was a re-broadcast but the outcome of the game was really sad. I could not watch anymore as Aquinas was ripping Upper Arlington 52-0. Alot of you locals from columbus can answer this but is Aquinas that much better than Upper Arlington? I have always thought C-bus had some pretty strong teams to represent Ohio in games of this magitude. Would Canton Mckinley or Ursuline of Youngstown been a stronger team to play against Aquinas. The team from Florida sure did look quite strong and Arlington never had a chance. It was sad to watch this games. Any of you who watched this game - Your thoughts please.

It's the school of Duron Carter, Cris Carter (as a coach), Lamarcus Joyner, Brandon Linder, Cody Riggs, Keion Payne, etc. (Nate Salley, Major Wright, etc)

Wow........... I did not know this. And i live in Florida??????????? Where have i been huh? Bill Conley mentioned that in one of his answer to a question was that there were teams from the Cincy area and Youngstown Cleveland as well that could have given the STA team a better game but that may be true. I was always under the impession that the Columbus teams were just as equal in the Ohio High School Athletic Assoc.

Elder lost respectively to STA last year. St X took Lakeland to OT. Moeller should have gone to OT vs Byrnes if the refs called the missed XP correctly.

There are a few teams that can hang in central ohio, but not with the consistency and depth of SW & NE Ohio teams. Upper Arlington is not one of those central ohio teams.
