Fox Sports 1 (at least its not ESPN)

For decades I have had this notion that national writers and broadcasters had a sort of brotherhood forged by traveling around the country and living out of suitcases and hotel rooms and press boxes, because of course everyone hates everything they write and they all OBVIOUSLY hate all our favorite teams, so they only have each other.

Then Twitter comes along and totally redeems itself like it has tonight!!!

I can't take FS1 seriously when it comes to college football but I appreciate the care/respect they have given women's soccer.

@richarddeitsch Ouch.

@joelklatt @BruceFeldmanCFB I take the broadcast you and Gus do very seriously. Terrific first year for you as a partnership.

Clay Travis ‏@ClayTravisBGID 1h1 hour ago
@joelklatt @BruceFeldmanCFB @richarddeitsch It's lazy & cheap to slam a hundred hard workers when you just dislike me. Tag me next time.

Clay Travis ‏@ClayTravisBGID 1h1 hour ago
@richarddeitsch I also guarantee you that every person working on our college football coverage works much harder than you do.

Richard Deitsch ‏@richarddeitsch 1h1 hour ago
@ClayTravisBGID They do work their ass off. And you cheapen what they do, brother.

Okay, someone tell me who the F Richard Deitsch is.

Senior Editor, Sports Illustrated Richard Deitsch is a writer and editor at Sports Illustrated, SI.com and TheMMQB.com. He has covered six Olympic Games, NCAA ...

Specifically for SI he covers the sports media, and really gives a fair take on the major sports-media outlets, so he's kind of exactly the right person to be giving thumbs-up and thumbs-down to all these talking heads. Wikipedia claims he has been particularly critical of Rovell, Whitlock, Travis, Bayless and Piers Morgan... (And he is actually a Buffalo and Columbia grad; he only did a fellowship at scUM.)

I gave up on watching FS1's non-live sports programming after Jamie Horowitz (i.e. Embrace Debate) came aboard, but I really feel sorry for Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole after hearing Onrait on the "Dan Patrick Show" Monday.

Those two had pretty good gigs in Canada. Even though they have pretty healthy contracts with FS1, so they're covered if laid off, it seems like a bait-and-switch to an extent by FOX execs.

It seems like the network is building around the worst parts of ESPiN (building around Colin Cowherd and Jason Whitlock).

Coverage of O'Toole's Twitter rant about layoffs (could be WWE fake confrontation, but who knows)

I've fallen into the "I only watch live sports on ESPN, FS1, etc" group. Sportscenter is rarely about showing highlights anymore. I've watched FS1 probably 3x as much as I ever have since the Copa America started up.

I do enjoy some Paul Finebaum during football season, but that's because he has to deal with some batshit crazy people in SEC-land.
