Fox Sports 1 (at least its not ESPN)

The only caveat is, I might be watching "FOX Sports Live" on a daily basis, if they let Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole do what they do.

These guys are magic, I don't know if the USA audience realizes how awesome they are. I hope they are the two faces of FS1. It would be in FS1's best interest.

At this time, I think FS1's face is Regis.

The company seems to be trucking him to most of the corporate showings and other trade events.

Behind Regis is probably the UFC (and everyone associated with that like Dana White).

Onrait and O'Toole will probably only work 4-5 days a week (probably four). I don't know about the other three nights.

But I do like when Onrait says "Bobrovsky" (so I hope they cover hockey as much as possible).

I don't really have high hopes for FOX Sports 1, because if you look at FOXSports.com, the website has evolved into a gossip column on par with TMZ.

There doesn't seem to be any redeeming value of going to FOX Sports' website. If the TV channel follows the website's lead, it will just be another version of 'First Take' mixed with TMZ.

People will watch FS1 because of the live sports, but I'm going to guess every feature show will just be a "Best Damn Sports Show" clone.

Somehow Sky Sports New in England -- another News Corp. property -- plays most things straight.

There isn't really any hope for sports themed networks. ESPN learned how to troll for reaction from Fox News, so I don't know if I can expect FS1 to take a different route. NBC has followed suit with their news stations, and NBC Sports Network talk shows are almost exclusively rumor and opinion pieces, with a little bit of Erik Kuselias' need to throw in water cooler "debate" topics. I don't get CBS Sports with my cable package, but with guys like Doug Gottlieb at the forefront, it can't be any better than the other channels, can it?

Like you mentioned earlier, News Corp plays it pretty straight with Sky Sports. I suppose the FS1 people could see that the hyperbole machine in sports themed programming is saturated here, just like it is in the UK, and could decide to adjust their programming to cater to a different crowd, but it doesn't look like they're going to launch with that in mind.

I don't think they can do this daily and I also don't know how many years Regis can host the show.

I liked Georgie Thompson a bit more when she was with Sky Sports News, but understand that it could've got repetitive.

I still laugh that on the first thing ever broadcast on FOX Sports 1, FOX had Dave Revsine and the BTN crew on the show (since FOX partially owns BTN).

That trump card is probably going to be played when negotiations with the Big Ten kick up in 2014 or 2015 (FOX having interest in BTN). Who knows if it will work.

When you put Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews side-by-side, one really looks better than the other.

Since I stopped watching 'SportsCenter' years ago, right now FOX Sports Live could have Charissa Thompson reading the bible and I'd probably be watching (since it's an alternative).

The screen is kind of loud though (perhaps too many graphics), but I started laughing when Jay Onrait started yelling "Watch it."

I've enjoyed it for the most part today. I think they do have too many graphics going on at once though as BVistahC pointed out but it's at least pertinent sports information that is factual and not artificially manufactured and spun as truth (espn).

They're going to have to tinker with the panel stuff, flipping with highlights and then flipping back to panel. But it's the first show.

I'll predict that Georgie Thompson will be doing highlights on "FOX Sports Live" in the future (since she was on Sky Sports News for years).

If you read Tweets from ESPN employees and ESPN talent, this FS1 (all things involved) seems to be in their head.

It reminds me of when BTN was created and all of a sudden ESPN started calling everything "network" (like Big East Network) even though they didn't have a real channel.

FOX/NBC have locked up NASCAR through 2024 ($8.2 billion)
NBC/Versus have locked up NHL through 2021 ($2 billion)
FOX/TBS have MLB postseason and premier weekly games through 2021 ($7 billion)
FOX/NBC/CBS have NFL and Super Bowl through 2022 ($22 billion)
CBS/TNT have NCAA Tournament through 2024 ($11 billion)
ESPN/TNT have NBA through 2015 ($7 billion)
ESPN has College Football Playoff through 2025 ($5.64 billion)

#1 - It is absolutely in their heads. And it should be. It's hard to maintain your position as the "World Wide Leader in sports" when the major events in all but one pro sport are on other networks.

#2 - If you need evidence the NCAA is run poorly, look how little they got for their TV rights from ESPN.

Nah, I just read this on someone else's timeline and I was thinking to myself, "Do you really need to say this (the 'not our first show' part)." This is in addition to anything Bill Simmons has been saying about FOX.

Steve Levy ‏@espnSteveLevy 5h its me and @notthefakeSVP on @SportsCenter after little league world series on espn #notour1stshow
And a lot of FOX Sports Radio affiliates just added BTN's daily radio show (airs during Fall), including Columbus 1230. Previously, no ESPN Radio affiliate would carry the BTN show (since BTN is FOX).
