Recruiting is a sport's fans equivalent of a soap opera.

I try not to believe anything until signing day, but that's a tough way to fly sometimes.

Davis is this year's D'Andrea. People are literally losing sleep over this kid's decision. Just have to laugh.

With or without Fred Davis, or any other individual recruit, the Buckeyes will still take the field in scarlet and gray next year.

Hi recruitment has had it's ups and downs to say the least. I for one will be glad when it's over, one way or the other.

Actually, there's an ugly rumor going around that we may switch to a predominatly black home jersey. So I guess I could be wrong about the scarlet. :biggrin:

I'm looking forward to signing day myself.

I didn't follow online recruiting boards during the D'Andrea saga. Were the meltdowns this bad? Reading BN makes me want to pull out an Abnormal Psych text and see how many disorders you can spot in one thread. :hatepc:

I'm sure C-Dog was being sarcastic, referring to some poster over on BN that said a while back that said it would be sweet to have black jerseys as home jerseys. Needless to say he was ripped pretty good for it.

lol, sorry BB, Mili is absolutely right -- I was joking about the black jerseys. Just seems like every once and a while someone will pop up and talk about how we should do something new and exciting with out jerseys, and a mostly black one as an alternate home jersey usually comes up in the course.

Don't misunderstand, I don't fault these people for their opinions. Everyone has different tastes. I, for example, hate chocolate. I like it fine if it's just complimenting something else, like Almond M&M's or chocolate icing on yellow cake -- but chocolate ice cream for example would probably make me throw up. My wife on the other hand loves chocolate, to the point where I suspect in some cases she'd be willing to steal some from a young child if she thought she could escape retribution from angry parents.

Similarly, people's tastes for the uniforms varies. I tend to feel that a major change to our uniforms would not just border on, but would cross fully into sacrilege. Others feel you should constantly update to keep with the times.

To put it in chick terms, our unis are (again, in my opinion) a Tiffany diamond. Forever classic and in style.

As far as smilies go, I just added this one yesterday...

If anyone has seen Fred play, outside of the Army game, I would like to know your thoughts. His video clips were impressive, but those are only a snapshot of a season or two.

Maybe we can get a brighter scarlet for our uniforms! Just think how much new merchandise the university can sell (See the Oregon Nikes/Ducks).

Clarity, are those Rolling Rock bottles or Heineken?

BSB had Fred still considering OSU yesterday. I hope he comes, but anyway you slice it the Buckeyes have great talent at the WR position.

Brutus, you could not have believed the meltdown on Bucknuts when folks thought D' Andrea was going to Nebraska. There was more venom spewed against him than I had ever seen. I swear it was worse for some than if someone had just painted their sisters name on a water tower.

I really feel for these kids and what is being said about them in a lot of cases on these boards.

Those have got to be Rolling Rock..........

Damn, Clarity! You just about gave me a heart attack with the black unis thing. :yow1: My first thought was those ugly things they wear at :nw:

Bri, the irony of that is great. Now most people on BN seem to have given up on MDA, and have him either not starting at all next year or moving to DE or OLB. One extreme to the other. :crazy:

What the hell is going on here? People are having civil conversations about other recruits than Davis. There certainly is not an asshole shortage over on Bucknuts, they truly emerge when something like the Davis saga comes up.

The thing that I find the most amusing is that some people actually think that they can sway Davis' decision by what they write on the board. He is one kid, one kid who hasn't proven himself at a bigger stage. Why the infatuation with this whole situation? Have some actually become that dense? Do some actually let the Davis decision affect their lives?

I actually like getting the underdogs, that way they actually come into practice with a chip on their shoulders. What do you all think? :osu:

The perceived drama is pretty hilarious over there. It's obvious we're already stacked at wide-out so what's the big deal if we lose him? There's always next year. I'm sure there is going to be somebody else in Ohio that is going to be great or from Florida.

Great point about the chip on the shoulder. Look at Santonio. I guess he wasn't recruited by Miami or something and just watch him play. He seems deceptively fast and has the greatest hands I've seen since Chris Vance in his junior year one-handing them in the back of the endzone. How bout that amazing blind over the shoulder Santonio had against Purdue (or as my brother and I call them... Purdon't or Purdidn't) moving north on the field or right to left on tv late in the game! Unbelievable!

We have Roy Hall and Bam Childress and Ted Ginn and some other redshirts.

Fred becoming a buckeye would be great but this whole bed-wetting about not getting a recruit.... it'll almost be a letdown of some sort if we do get him.

The point about message boards having any impact on a recruit's feelings is also extremely laughable. At least that would only seem logical.

I'm not a big "recruitnik" and rarely check out the recruiting forums (mainly because of the crazy type of soap opera I'm seeing with Davis being played out). Just occasionally at this time of year (after the season) do I check in. I am simply astounded at the "drama" taking place over Davis. Not just OSU but Miami and USC as well. What I find incredible, and disturbing, is that people can get soooooo worked up over a recruit, who has never played a snap of college ball, nevermind at OSU. Sheesh, he'd be great to get, but some of the folk have more time, energy and posts invested into him than all but (I'd guess) 5 of the current OSU players or graduating seniors. I think the only players to get more attention than Davis in the past year are Krenzel, Clarett, Gamble, Will Smith, and maybe one or two others. Priorities are just upside down.

Keep this in your heads and in your hearts. Ken-Yon Rambo was more highly rated coming out of High School than Fred Davis is. I believe he is on par with say, Reggie Germany? Please. Let him "do what he gotta do."

The OOS kids are on my mind right now. Mitchum and Hart make this a top-5 class, with or without Davis.

Oh yea, and with the crap "circulating" that potential recruits read this shit that we post and let it affect their decisions:

Fred Davis!! YOU SUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKK!!!!!

Now when he announces his decision, I expect my post to be mentioned :)
