Clarity, just responding to your request for feedback on Home Page. Certainly understand the need to improve and automate, as it appears that you were spending many hours of 'keeping the pie plate going on the stick' . The new format has taken some getting used to (probably on me), but sometimes we fix that which was unbroken. I'm pretty stagnant with what I like, but not certain that anything is gained by the new front page. It's a bit confusing, (again, at least to me). I enjoy BP, and will keep perusing, although I have reduced my comments by a bunch, for several reasons. Will learn to maneuver throughout. Go Bucks, and hopefully this helps from someone 'long in the tooth'. Go Bucks, ever and always

Front page is wonderful but let's talk Buckeye football. My two sons think I'm absolutely crazy. I called the OSU Football office and expressed my displeasure to a young lady named Jill. I did that because I couldn't get through to Ed Warriner or Urban Meyer. Believe me when I tell you I'd love to talk to Luke Fickell and Chris Ash as well but they're a little too busy "doing nothing" to speak to me.

OK. I get it. We're 5-0 so what in the world could I possibly be complaining about? I love the Buckeyes but I have a lot to complain about when I don't see from this team what I think I should see. Get this: I love tOSU and I love each and every ballplayer on this team because they chose to come to Columbus. However, I must ask this question: "Did the Buckeyes set Cardale up for failure and did his teammates lie down on him?" I don't know. They have to answer that question. But I didn’t see the same execution and effort when Cardale was under center

Maybe you don't like what I'm saying and I really don't "give a flip". Why in the world was Warriner and Beck (with Meyer approval) calling what they called for Cardale Jones. He is not going to run option the way JT Barrett runs it. Sure, the offense is moving better with JT at the helm. JT is an OPTION quarterback. That is his strength. Cardale Jones is not that.

Cardale is the last of Jim Tressel’s recruits. He’s a pocket passer with great skills when in the right system. He’s great at what he does best.

Offensive play calling has been abysmal at best. I am sadly disappointed at what I have seen this season. Examples of my disappointment are as follows:

You line Braxton Miller or Jalin Marshall in “wildcat”. Who’s a threat to throw? Neither one. We know they are running the ball. I think the opposition is smart enough to figure that out as well. Throw the daggone ball at some point and time with them. At least throw a pump fake.

Passes to Nick Vannett and Marcus Baugh would be nice.

Curtis Samuels is another Reggie Bush but we’ll never know that if he only touches the ball two or three times (maybe) a game.

I know Dontre Wilson has a hurt foot but was he really a factor? Are we using him in the right manner?

I realize Noah Brown and Corey Smith are gone for the season. Aside from Michael Thomas, are the Buckeye receivers so ghastly terrible that we cannot go vertical deep down the field? C’mon Man! I can’t believe that a James Clark, Johnnie Dixon, etc. can’t beat a defender and get deep. I refuse to believe that. All this firepower sitting on the shelf waiting for an opportunity.

The biggest disappointment is Urban Meyer crumbling to media opinion and public sentiment. Where is this written law that you have to name a starting quarterback. “I’m Urban Meyer. We are The Ohio State Buckeyes. We’re the defending National Champions. We have two (three or four really) capable quarterbacks that are fine men and great leaders. We will play whoever the situation dictates we play. SIMPLE AS THAT! Media and Public---GO TO HELL!”

We don’t have to name a starting quarterback. You (the opposition) just be ready for whoever we put under center.

Ok. I’m sure you think I have a lot of nerve complaining about a 5-0 team. But I do. We should be blowing teams out. Anything less is quite disappointing.

@bosshawk

How many 20 game win streaks and national championships do you have on your resume? Assuming it's less than 4 and 3 respectively, you'll excuse me for deferring to Meyer's plan in this instance.

I realize you're new to the site, but there are plenty of threads out there to "talk Buckeye football" This one is in the Administrative forum and is intended to discuss site issues; specifically the front page.... as the name of the thread and the forum in which it resides should have clued you to.

Elitist prick.

While I am here for a joke, might as well chime in.

Front graphic panel is way too large. I need to scroll to see any other content.

Countdown clocks on websites are stupid.

The 5 most recent posts are too large.

These are the only items I see before scrolling.

Too much stuff in general.

Make it so on a PC / laptop you don't have to scroll.

Would like to see a bare bones forum structure somewhere.

I'd have links to the other sites and dump the news stuff.

Promoted posts aren't articles. Articles should look like articles. Headline and photo in every article. These take up too much screen space too. Headline, click bait photo, and quick blurb all linked to article / post / discussion thread.

Well done, as always, Clarity! That said, I have been a BP-er since sometime in 2004, was a founding member of the Paint Chippers (assuming that there ever was such a thing), and eight years later traveled 11,000 miles to have a BP moderator be my best man, and today is the FIRST day I have even seen the BP front page. I'm glad it's there and it's great, but to me what has always made this place special is the forum.

Thanks, all for the feedback. The front page is only ever meant to be a launching point into the forum, which is and will always be our primary focus and purpose.

VG, good notes -- part of the sizing issue is that it's responsive, so the bigger your screen, the bigger things are going to be. Still, surely there's a way to scale down more efficiently, and I agree that more relevant content should be above the fold. Thanks all around.
