Future Football Schedules (Updated 11/21/2023)

Ohio State Football Adds UConn, Ball State to Future Schedules
March 3, 2020by Tony Gerdeman0 comments

Ohio State announced on Monday that they have added Connecticut and Ball State to future football schedules.

Neither game will feature a return trip from Ohio State to either respective campus.

Connecticut will play at Ohio State on October 18, 2025 and will complete OSU’s 2025 non-conference schedule.

The Buckeyes open the 2025 season with a home game against Texas, then an open week, then a home game against Washington.

Ball State will be in Columbus Sept. 5, 2026. This will be the Buckeyes’ season opener before they head to Austin to face the University of Texas the following week.

Ohio State will pay Connecticut $1.95 million for the game, which will be sandwiched by trips to Wisconsin and to Rutgers.

The 2026 Big Ten conference schedule has not yet been released.

The cost of a non-conference home game (with no reciprocal game at the visitor's stadium) is approaching $2M.

No Oregon sporting events with large crowds through September

Even as Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced Thursday that the state will begin taking the first steps toward reopening on May 15, she also made clear that sporting events with large crowds will not be returning in Oregon in the near future.

With the threat of the coronavirus still looming, Brown said large gatherings of people for events such as sporting events, concerts and festivals cannot go on in Oregon until effective prevention and treatment for the coronavirus, such as a vaccine, is available.

Brown said such large gatherings planned through the end of September should be canceled or modified.

...

The Oregon Ducks have three home football games at Autzen Stadium scheduled for September, including a huge Sept. 12 matchup against powerhouse Ohio State.

Obviously, there are many unknowns at this point whether there is a season at all, but I was hoping that by some miracle I'd be able to at least join a tailgate down in Eugene for this.

Thanks for posting. I was going to drive out with friends to go at least tailgate like you said, but looks like that's out of the picture. Guess I'll try to get to Columbus for a game in October or November if possible.

So, is there any reason for concern that, for whatever reason, this home-and-home series wouldn’t happen?

Sabau said there’s every reason to think they’ll go forward as scheduled. She noted the $3 million charge that either school would have to pay if they decide to get out of the agreement for any reason other than the use of the force majeure clause, which covers unpredictable circumstances.

“We've never had a contract with that high of a penalty before, but that shows the intent and that shows the commitment to each school that this is going to happen,” Sabau said. “We can't wait for this to happen. This is really good for the game. This is good for historic football. This is good for everybody.”

REMEMBER LAST TIME? Alabama made the ill-advised decision to come back for more after Ohio State punched it in the mouth in the last meeting.

With the next meeting announced, it's a solid time to remember that even though that was a one-score game, Ohio State dominated the Tide all over the field.

It's important to note that Ohio State had the game's top-5 highest-rated players, and all five of them played drastically different positions. And somehow, none of them were the dude that ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.
