G D'Angelo Russell (Unanimous 1st Team All-American, All-Star, Los Angeles Lakers)

Not a smart move but we have to abandon this "bro code" nonsense. Swaggy P has no one to blame but himself if this costs him his relationship. Women aren't "conquests" to be bragged about.

Ok so here is what I can't wrap my head around...

Yeah, that was a low down move by D'Angelo. But all I hear now is...

"D'Angelo can't be trusted."
"D'Angelo fucked up."

The kid is 19 years old and did something he already regrets, I'm sure. His youth isn't an excuse but it can be an explanation. Dude was ignorant. However, I don't hear a thing about Nick Young. You know who can't be trusted? The guy out there fucking around on his woman. You know whose fault it is that Nick Young got caught? Nick fucking Young's. Don't want to get caught cheating? Don't cheat. Life is sometimes just as sinple as it sounds. Don't be a fucking idiot and shit like this won't happen. I have no sympathy for a man sleeping around and getting busted. Boo hoo. Poor Nick Young. How dare somebody do something so dirty to poor Nick Young. He's 30 and his nickname is Swaggy P and his girl's name is Iggy. Sounds like there's a whole lot of growing up needed all around.

You don't do what D'Angelo did, but you sure don't do what Young did, either. I just wish people would stop pretending some lowlife named Swaggy P is a victim here. The only victim here is Iggy...and the English language.

Well Nick at least has the consolation of knowing that if he decides to take this to court Russell is going to end up paying a few of his bills for illegally recording a conversation.

It depends on which state it actually took place of course, but there is a very high possibility Russell is breaking a wiretapping statute.

I see this as a total different issue than most of the opinions on here.

It's just going to be hard to get your team mates to trust you when you pull this kind of shit. This will linger much longer than a "crime" the public cares more about. This is a direct breach of trust with a team mate. That shit will stick.

This. Think a teammate wants to walk through the locker room undressed anywhere near Russell if he's holding a cellphone? How about a private conversation with other teammates while Russell is within earshot?

You don't just apologize for this and make it go away.

You are both right. It will definitely be tough for teammates, present and future, to trust Russell.

As far as here on BP, this is the D'Angelo Russell thread so I can understand this conversation centering around him. As for the national media...what I would just like to hear about more is...

"Yeah, what Russell did was dirty but the true piece of shit here is Nick Young, who is fucking around on his fianceè."

Let's not give Nick Young a free pass as if he is some sort of victim. A victim, he is not, even if what D'Angelo did was low down and even possibly illegal. I look at what D'Angelo did no differently than wearing a wire to catch drug dealers/manufacturers. People might not respect D'Angelo for what he did, but what he did, was catch the true perpetrator. The perpetrator might not have any respect for the guy wearing the wire but who gives a damn what that piece of shit thinks? And if people want to stand up for the guy who got caught, well, who gives a shit what they think either?

No, this is terrible....

1. Nick Young might be a scumbag, but, he's not a drug dealer.

2. So, we're breaking the law now (presumably) but we're catching the TRUE perpetrator. Give me a break.

3. Then the (presumably) illegal conversation is put out there for the world to see... instead of say, taking it to the woman who had been wronged, who could have dealt with the information as she sees fit, instead of suffering public humiliation. Maybe Azalea, privately, couldn't give two shits who he was banging on the side, but, see, once it public, then you have to address differently. Maybe she did care, but then you have an opportunity to address it directly without ESPN and Radar Online up in your business. Point being, if indeed he's caught the true perp.... this ain't the way to have it go down.

I'm not standing up for Nick Young by any means whatsoever, but because something happened in his private life, doesn't mean the world has any right to know about it. I realize those lines get fucked up with Instagram at the ready, but, that doesn't make it ok.

I'm not defending either one. My problem is all the focus is on Russell and the world all glosses over Nick Young's infidelities and still wants to talk about trust. Doesn't seem Young can be trusted either. They're both scumbags here but everybody is only focusing on one. My example might have been a stretch but the issue here is still the same.

So this is bad all sides around... here's some things I've read and heard on this

1. This was part of a prank - they'd made mention that the guys had been pranking each other all year
2. D'Angelo did not release this, I believe his instagram got hacked a couple weeks ago - plausible his account was hacked and video stolen
3. I believe this video was never meant to see the light of day

so my opinions
1. kids do stupid things
2. if the locker room was pranking each other, how could you not expect shit like this to happen
3. Russell's gotta do a lotta service to get himself back in the graces of his teammates
4. Young is PoS.

I dont agree with Cowterd much but his take on this was pretty good today...
