Buckeyes Offer 2019 Linebacker Owen Pappoe

Before he had even had his first high school study hall, Owen Pappoe held nearly a dozen scholarship offers. Since his freshman season, however, he has continued to add offers, and on Monday Ohio State threw its hat into the ring with a verbal scholarship offer of their own.

Pappoe (6-1 205) plays for Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, and as a freshman linebacker/defensive end last season he finished with over 100 tackles and quickly began living up to the hype that had arrived well before his career ever did.

Last week Pappoe added to his early accolades when he became the first player ever invited to The Opening prior to his sophomore season.

At The Opening Regional camps this past spring, Pappoe put up the ninth-best SPARQ score in the nation. SPARQ measures athleticism, speed, strength and agility, and it measured Pappoe with a 4.61 40-yard dash among other things.

Ohio State is getting set for its final 1-day camp of 2017 on Saturday and there was some hope that the Buckeyes would get to see 2019 5-star linebacker Owen Pappoe on campus for the first time.

That apparently is not going to happen.

“No, I can’t make it,” Pappoe told Land of 10. “I know Kenyatta Watson II is going.”
