Emory Jones (QB Florida, transfer to Arizona St., transfer to Cincinnati)

QBs generally need to start more than 1 yr to be considered viable NFL prospects -- if that is what you are suggesting. true of all positions I suppose, but I think the reps are a lot more important for QBs than other positions
While I agree with you, I think if Haskins has a good year next year, he will leave.

The quiet here is a good thing. Land this one and a couple of other key positions and we’re looking at switching from having to wear sunglasses because the future is bright to having to wear welding eye protection. Gimme this one, Carman, the two crystal balls from Birm today and a couple DEs and I’ll be happy. Throw in Babb with the class and another OL or so... I’ll be dancing.

I think we are more than set at QB no matter what. But I do agree with a post put here earlier that we seemed to be in the same position when we missed on DeShaun Watson. Do I think Jones is in the same ballpark as Watson? Yes. He is. I like Baldwin a ton and we have a great QB room right now. But that does not stop me from really, really, really wanting Jones in this class. Emory is one of the best QB prospects I have watched on film in some time and I think he will be a star here.

I agree completely! I see a lot Watson in Jones! While Baldwin coming from a QB hot bed at Lake Travis is a good addition and could be a player for us down the road. But QB is the one position that can completely transcend a team and there are only a couple QBs nationwide that can do that. I believe Emory jones is one of those QBs and him falling out of this class would be a huge blow.

There's no likely scenario where Haskins is good and stays for 3 years.

Back to Emory.

Agreed but 2 years would be a blessing! If Jones hangs in this class and still plans on signing early signing period, our QB room gets even more dangerous. Jones is the complete package and is exactly how you'd build a prototypical college QB.

Bama still doesn’t have a QB in this cycle and we just picked up a second QB? That would sure seem like writing on the wall normally.

I thought I heard we would “know more” after this last weekend.

Regardless, I’m glad to have this saga nearing it’s end. For some reason this drama has annoyed me much more than others. It’s been long enough. Are we going to the dance or not?

OSU and Bama have been behaving in pretty much the same manner.

Really pursuing Emory but without supreme confidence.
Chasing Jarren Williams. (miami verbal)
Pursuing Baldwin (although Bama didn't offer).

Buckle in, boys.
