Game Thread Game Four: Ohio State 31, Iowa 6 (final)

I was in 7C Row 11. Fun section to be in if you cant be in A or B deck.

This game was an absolute domination. The offense left something to be desired but last I checked, we still had over 500 yards of offense and won by 25 points over a team that many were picking to win the Big Ten and possibly the National Championship.

Besides the fumbles, my biggest question about this game was about something that didnt even matter. Why did Tressel call a pass on third down with 20 seconds left that was incomplete and then call a run play on 4th down...I was just confused by it.

At any rate, Drew Tate's a bitch, funniest moment from the game by far.

I'd also like to say the Iowa fans were pretty respectable. I mean, after the game of course because they got shellacked, but even before the game, most of them started up friendly conversation with me. Good luck and BEAT MICHIGAN!

against texas we didn't execute and the play calling wasn't there. agaisnt sdsu the playcalling was there but the execution... not so much. people can say sdsu was vanilla all they want. but we threw on first down alot and we even threw on short yardage. both of which are out of character for tressel when smith is at qb. iowa... iowa is this years version of 04 scum, only this time we played better :p. we had short yardage pass plays called. we threw on first down. get this shit... on the failed deep pass to holmes hamby was open running beside him. would have taken a very good pass to get it to him, but he was open. now... are you sitting down? ok good, stand up. ok, now sit down . we went right back to hamby deep late in the second qtr! he was covered that time, but i was soooo happy to see a similar play called again! damn good call tressel!!! while it didn't work, great call! oh and the pump fake hand off to pittman... that was just sex...

qbs... after the miami (oh) game imho zwick proved he was the #1 guy period. after the iowa game, smith proved he was the #1 guy period. with that said, smith missed ALOT of open guys. he's still a little to eager to run imo. it seems like if he see's open field he's taking it. i don't mind that, but if you have guys 5+ yrds downfield wide open you throw first, run second. but i was very happy to see him stand against pressure and throw. his suspesion really hurt him, but the rust appears to be close to gone. the fumbles, eh *shrug*. thats what happens when your qb runs alot. if you want a mobile athletic qb, turnoves follow. its a package deal really. he'll clean up most of it as time goes on, but it will never completely go away. im so happy that tressel has decided to go with one of these guys. hard to make a wrong decision either way, im so happy they're not sharing time. ts, thank you sooooooooooo much for ending the controversy!!!! :)

whoever said pittman wasn't good enough to be a feature back... just an fyi, pittman is ignoring you .

aj hawk will win the butkus, and if these awards weren't given almost 100% based upon name recognition but rather for merit. aj would finish first, carp would finish second, and schlegal would finish 3rd. this isn't the best lb core i have seen at tOSU, this is the best lb core i have seen period. i said it before and ill say it again. its such a good thing that d'andrea got his extra year of eligibility because schleg's wouldn't be giving up his starting spot. when he came to tOSU i thought he had made the biggest mistake of his career. now, i think he made his career. funny what a year can do to your perspective :P. one of my fav plays of the game was iowa's first "first down". the d line absorbs bodies, hawk fills the gap and schleg's annihilates. oh and they didn't really get the first down btw, nice gift there ref .

mr. trepasso... roflmmfao!!! dude... wtf was THAT!!!??!?!! that was one of the funniest things i have ever seen! i really hope the sp coach doesn't beat him up to much, that was flat out halarious. i would LOVE to watch teh film of that one with the team for the first time just to hear the cracks the coaches make. ok guys, heres where trepasso forgot his ONLY reason for existing in this world is to kick the damn ball! don't worry trepasso, your doing a great job. :) just uh... in the future... kick the ball k? :P

schnitcker, his first fumble was him trying to do to much. the second was perfect execution by iowa's d. they held him up and attacked the ball while he was immobile. slow whistles can kill you in those situaitons. i think we would be better served going with pittman in short yardage/goal line. not because im afraid of schnitker, but pittman just has it right now.

p.s. ginn is reeeeeaaally fast . i want to know who he said, "i told you so!" to after his called back punt return for a td.

man..what a fantastic football game to watch..

i knew we would whip em, but man, i didnt think we would look that pretty..only if we didnt fumble twice in the red zone and get that punt called back, we would have scored in the 50's...still a fantastic game..congrats bucks..you guys played the best damn game you have played in a long time..it was beautiful to watch..thank you

I'm ignoring whoever said that, too. I think Pittman is more than good enough. How many years? 160? Is he averaging 100+ a game? Besides his fumble, he looked just the way you'd expect an Ohio State running back to look. It's just a shame they won't let him try on the goal line offense.

It's huge to have a good running offense. It lets your defense stay rested on the sidelines for as long as possible, and the opposing offense doesn't get the chance to get in a rythem. Plus, it's gotta be really demoralizing for the opposing team for you to gain 4, 5, 6, 7 yards a play and march down the field over and over.
