Game Thread Game Four: Ohio State 31, Iowa 6 (final)

Tate had a chance to shake off his injury this past weekend. Iowa will be very motivated coming into Columbus. IMO this game will come down to whether Troy continues to believe that he is the playmaker on the offense. If he belives that, the Buckeyes are in for a long day. Ferentz and Iowa's DC Parker are two good coaches who will deploy a defense to shut Troy's running/scrambling down. If Troy starts to get the ball into the hands of the playmakers while avoiding throwing strikes to Iowa's DBs, then the Buckeyes will win.

This game is about our D versus their O, and given what Iowa has looked like so far this year, we win that matchup hands down.

If there were any game on the schedule where the "prevent offense" just needs to hold on to the ball and not do anything dumb, this is it.

MVP on the afternoon will be Huston, plus whichever linebacker disembowels Tate. :bones:

I'll be shocked if either team can muster more than one offensive TD without being gifted field position.

The thing that worries me about drew Tate is that he is much more mobile then you think. He hurt us big with his legs last year. Their offense will score points (I guess around 17-24 points), the deciding factor will be if our offense can score any.

Im thinking the score will be something like 21-7. Our defense will shut down their offense, and our offense will sputter, but do enough to win this game. Iowa's d-line is horrible this year.

That 21 points for the Bucks is on 7 field goals, right?

Somehow, we made Tate look like a Heisman candidate last year. I don't think things will be as easy going this year. With the d-line putting pressure on the QB, and the LB's blitzing, I would expect Tate to have more trouble. Plus, Youboty is playing lights out, and Jenkins is showing extreme promise. This defense has played 3 excellent games so far.

Given the fact that the offense is as loaded as any OSU team that I've ever seen, but they still stuggle to surpass 300 total yards before the 4th quarter, I don't think this will be any different. I just don't have confidence in this O.

I know there's threads all over the place talking about the offense's problems, so I won't go into details. I just want to say that we need a more seasoned OC. This team has as much talent as the USC offense (minus the QB, I suppose), but the play books are night and day difference. Veritcal pass plays, screens to Bush, draw plays, and smash mouth running game all in one drive. Our offensive scheme more closely represents Northwestern's.

Anyways, I go with S&G's 21-7 score, but with 7 take aways by our defense to set up 7 drives starting inside Iowa's 20, resulting in 7 FG's.
