Game Thread Game Nine: Ohio State 40, Illinois 2 (final)

The Bucks had 526 yards to Illinois 160. We started out slow, then took them behind the woodshed in the second half. The coaches made some great adjustments at halftime. I would love for them to bring the fire to NW next week.

what nearly impressed me more than his lowering the boom was the balance with which he was able to do it. i saw virtually no recoil on pittman's part. most running backs would absorb a lot of the hit and either be bounced out of bounds or at least slowed down for the defenders to approach. pittman just went on with his business.

Good point.

BTW, Pittman was just interviewed by Clay Hall and he didn't mention anything about being banged up.

Looked pretty good from B-deck!

The offense started off slow on the first two drives...after that, did we ever punt? I really don't think we did. I think we scored every time we had the ball after that except for the end of the game, when we could have scored with the 2nd string if we really wanted to. We did start slow, but we really didn't stay slow for long. And we didn't put the ball into the endzone when in the redzone the first two times, but then we started doing that too. It seemed like after those first four drives, our offense was unstoppable.

And how about the defense? First time all year they pitch a shutout...and a bad snap costs them the 0 on the board. Oh well. 2 points given up by special teams and that's it. For those who said the defense wasn't that great after last week??? This is the first time anybody has kept Illinois out of the endzone...and they were averaging 379.5 ypg coming in and only got 160. So that's another 200+ difference this defense puts up. I believe that's the FIFTH time this year that we've held a team to under 200 yards total offense. Has that ever been done before in Ohio State history? Holding 5 teams under 200 yards offense? Maybe it has...but it still seems pretty amazing to me. And it's not like we've played 5 cupcakes either.

Oh...and Troy Smith had an amazing second half. He's didn't have much focus in the first half, and looked confused, but once he got comfortable...he was unstoppable. He made GREAT decisions today...and has anybody noticed how well he is taking care of the football? Krenzel didn't even take care of the football as well as TS has been. Good job Buckeyes! Keep the momentum rolling into the last 2 games of the season.

Some notes:

1) I'm disappointed that BB73 is taking credit for my Heather Mitts picture. I'm also upset that you guys think she is yours. She's been mine for the last 2 or 3 years. She is an awesome soccer player turned announcer. You know nothing of her, she is mine :p

2) I'm also disappointed that nobody commented on TGinn taking a snap at QB, thus ruining Mili's hope of vRiches.

3) We kicked ass the second half

4) Illinois players are dirty. Lots of tash talking going on early, and some dick took a cheap shot at AJ early in the game.

I don't know if an official amount was set, but it was definately a bet between mili & jwins (and co) that he wouldn't take a snap at QB. I tried to get in on it but I think I was too late.

edit: and too broke

It was good to see damn near everyone in uniform, even if they didn't get into the game. Lyons, Freeman, D'Andrea, Jordan (!) and Cordle were all in uniform. There are also some new walk-ons that haven't been added to the website roster yet.

Rehring, Nicol, Hamby, Schnittker in street clothes. Tyree is now at TE, and wearing 96. I believe that's his fourth position and jersey number since he first came here.

For all the complaining done about the old fogeys who don't want you to get out of your seat, they are easily matched by loud, drunk kids, and tipsy MBA candidates whose girlfriends dress like they're 19 and not 26. OK, rant over.

Great job, Buckeyes. Started a little slow but turned on the heat after halftime and kept up the offensive momentum from the last few games. Smith was great, Pittman fabulous (how about that bulldozing power?!?), and Holmes and Ginn their usual, electric selves. Good to see Frost get into the mix, and the backups to get some reps. Two more games with this kind of production and we might get into the BCS mess after all. :osu4:

Note to Steve19, SATXBuck, and everybody. I copied the Heather Mitts photo from page 5 or 6 on this thread. It was BN27 who first placed it in this thread, and I owe him for stealing the picture without crediting him.

Note to BN27 - The Mili vBet for Teddy at QB was mentioned by me and a couple of other folks in this thread, so you're an idiot and we're even. :tongue2:
