Some people might be able to enjoy the mindless entertainment- I enjoy breaking down why the picture on the right sucks more than the picture on the left.

You must lead an exceedingly boring and frustrating life bro....

If you accept that it was inevitable, than the criticism becomes that it was incredibly rushed to get to what was essentially mass genocide. And as I have said consistently, establishing that she might do something like that was fine and believable (see: Walter White parallel), which I said from the beginning.

But establishing why she decided to do it... it’s like they didn’t even try.

She destroys all of defenses easily, is sitting on her dragon in complete victory as the bells of the city ring in surrender... and then she decides to burn the city to the ground?

It just makes no sense at all.

Like I said earlier, it’d be like if Walter White pulled over on his way to save Jesse and shot up a convenience store.

It’s completely believable that he would do something like that in the narrative of the story, but without a motivation to do it, it still makes no sense why he would do it in that scenario.

Yeah, Daenerys and Walter have done really bad things in pursuit of their goals... it still doesn’t make sense for them to murder innocent people that in no way help them accomplish their goals.

I dunno. It feels like you are trying to assign logic and reason to something that defies logic and reason. Mad people do mad things. It's kinda the defining thing about going mad. It's been building up in her for 7 seasons and Missandei's death was apparently the final straw to push her over the edge. If she had immediately gone Dresden on KL right after Missandei's death, would that have been enough motivation? Of maybe in the meanwhile, she was still fighting her inner demons and it wasn't until she was sitting up there surveying KL that she finally snapped and said fuck it.

I mean...I fucking hate the sounds of church bells, too -- if I had a dragon on some hungover Sunday morning, I'd be tempted to torch the church around the corner from me.

Now....if you'd like to complain about the stupidity of the Jaime/Euron fight, I've got my pitchfork at hand and I'm ready to go to town. Euron should have died on his boat with the rest of his ironborn, Jaime should have walked into KL via the tunnels unscathed, and J/Cersie both could have died the exact same way. Throwing Euron in there added nothing other than some more cheesy-ass lines from Captain Emo.

We’ll see how they land it, then - if she did completely lose it and all ability to behave like a rational person than she’ll continue behaving that way in the next episode, right?

She’ll just be completely unhinged and they will basically have to murder her right away, yes?

Or will she be able to switch on and off her mass genocide switch? and will she be back to wanting to be a good ruler in the next episode so the writers can pretend like getting rid of her is a tough decision that people are still conflicted about?

I’m guessing it will be the latter, because that would be the stupidest way to go considering what she just did.

I liked it. They laid plenty of foundation for her rampage and then she told us where her head was when she said to Jon that all she had to rule with was fear. Accepting their surrender, in her mind, wouldn’t help her. She kept taking mitigation advice and kept taking losses. Finally, she said, fuck it, I’m doing this. I suspect that initially, it was only going to be the Lannister forces, which had surrendered, of course, so major dick move, but then she got caught up in it and went full-on dark side and out-Cersei-ed Cersei.

Look, I'm just saying... EVERYBODY knows the writing on the show isn't what it was since they overtook GRRMs source material and GRRM left the show as a principal screenwriter and consultant. This isn't news.

It is also true that people can still enjoy a TV show that isn't on the same level as The Wire or Breaking Bad anymore.

My point is, the last 20 pages of this thread is really just miserable old shits complaining. Frankly, I don't know why some of you even bother watching.

bingo!

Sure. Will these writers explore it in some meaningful way? Signs point to no.

But as long as something enexpected and badass happens, let’s all just enjoy the ride.

Emilia Clark is apparently a gigglefuck. In every single appearance anywhere, she giggles and hides her face. I am going to assume she is a somewhat reclusive person based upon her demeanor in public.
