I watched the Battle of the Bastards last night for the first time. I knew going in that John was going to be alive, but I wasn't 100% sure how things would play out. Seeing Ramsey die was a "Fuck yeah!" moment, especially since the Starks have rarely had a good thing happen to them. Sansa's smile/smirk as she was walking away from watching Ramsey get what he deserved was a nice touch as well.

I agree it was underwhelming but here is analysis of it anyway.



The trailer points to the "one battle that matters" against the others overshadowing everything else- when really that's much less interesting than the petty fights amongst the houses, IMO.

Dragons wreck ice zombies in a fight- got it. I care more about the Starks being in charge again in the north.

I'm legitimately torn. I don't want the show to spoil the books but who the fuck knows if the books will ever be finished. Plus, I need to know. Fml
I think at this point the show is already substantially different enough from the books that there will still be plenty of worthwhile stuff to read, even with the surprise of the main plot points (possibly) ruined.
