To the coaches out there, what kind of plays are available out of the "Law Firm" formation (both Wells' in the backfield with Boeckman). Mo caught a pass for a big gain but can you do like a read option with that or do you keep the other RB in to block?

It is of course possible to do either. Tressel chooses to keep a RB in to pass protect quite frequently though.

Troy threw high to MoWells early vs Tex. I believe you'll see that done with Saine as well... and I don't think they'll ignore him.

Yea i remember that.. the ball slid through his hands and like clanked off his helment.. It showed me why sending your RB our to be a flanker or split end just doesn't make all that much sense... How many RBs can really run good routes and catch the ball in traffic or more than 5 yards downfield??

I could kinda see doin something with Saine or MWells in the slot.. But they got Beanie lined up further out than Robiskie... Everybody knows he's not catching the ball out there..

From what I saw in the YSU game, it's a total decoy, and they throw the other side of the field.. since Beanie was just going through the motions on his routes

By the Numbers
By Jeff Amey

The 2007 season opened up for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the friendly confines of the Horseshoe against the Youngstown State Penguins this past Saturday, and the home team didn't disappoint, beating the Penguins 38-6 in the Buckeyes inaggural game on the new Big Ten Network. For those of you lucky enough to have the new network at home (and the overflow channels), you got to see a typical Ohio State opener. A lot of people played. The offense and defense were pretty vanilla. The Buckeyes came out throwing the ball more than expected. Most importantly, the Buckeyes won the game easily.

For those of you that had to go to a sports bar to watch the game, usually with a lot of fellow football and Buckeyes fans, you were treated to one of the best days a Buckeye fan could dream of. There's nothing quite like watching Michigan lose to a team they have absolutely no business losing to with a bunch of your fellow fans.

Before we get into analyzing what we saw on Saturday, let's take a look at the stats.

First-game meeting allows Buckeyes, Penguins to gauge who they are

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The losses were heavy. So are the opportunities. Devastated by graduation and NFL defections from last year's 12-1 team, No. 11 Ohio State had more than enough people waiting in the wings to beat Youngstown State 38-6 on Saturday.

"Being the first game, we weren't sure who we were," defensive lineman Vernon Gholston said. "This was a good first experience." The defense didn't allow a touchdown and surrendered just 176 yards while the offense showed some versatility. Maybe the Buckeyes don't have as many stars as a year ago, but there is strength in numbers. And dozens of players made pivotal contributions.
