Game Thread Game Ten: Ohio State 38, Wisconsin 17 (final)

Mendenhall- 17 rushes for 201 yards and 2 TDs.........then again it is against Minny. Beanie put up numbers against a MUCH better defense today.

J. Williams- 14 of 21 for 207 yds, 2 TDs & 1 INT. 18 rushes for 133 yards & 1 TD

Both players had impressive games (especially Williams with 340 total yards), but it was against Minnesota.

not as many rushing yards for Beanie, but his 3 rushing TDs ties Williams' and beats Mendenhall's.

as long as the players arne't looking ahead like most of us are... we'll be fine haha If illinois wanted to get our attention anymore than they already have they did that on saturday. I mean did illinois really have to run up the stats that badly?? Now our team will think Illinois are world beaters with the tape they'll be seeing this week

Excluding myself & some others. There's no point in talking about the NC game if we don't get by Illinois & scUM

But it's hard not to get ahead ourselves............as long as the players, and coaches don't. I am pretty damn proud of where we are, what Tressell and the boys are and have accomplished...........We have every fraking reason to talk NATIONAL TITLE GAME. I mean we can discuss it .......right?

your damn right we can buckeyebreeder...I think its fun as fans to talk about the possability.. I have looked ahead a lot the past week or so but I never once think "oh we'll kill this team" or "this won't be a game so we can look at next week now"... every team to me is dangerous which is why I'm so intense when I watch a game. Wether it's YSU or michigan I'm the same (minus me blacking out in the really big games for screaming loudly). As long as us fans dont' get cocky and think the teams we still have left are chumps we can talk about the championship game. Just because we talk about it doesn't mean we're saying it's writing on the wall that we think we're world beaters ya know what I'm sayin?

Good vs Very Good

toledoblade.com -- Buckeyes rebound after trailing in 3rd quarter

"There was adversity, and a big momentum shift in that third quarter, but we stayed poised," Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis said. "That's a good team, and we needed to battle them throughout, and eventually we got to them on the defensive side with a few plays that changed the momentum, and then each time our offense made it hurt."

When that flurry played out, Ohio State had scored 28 straight points, sacked Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Donovan 10 times and rushed for 165 yards in the second half alone. reason why they are No. 1," Donovan said. "They have speed, strength - everything. They are a very good football team."

"We kind of had this one circled and knew it would be a battle," Tressel said. "Wisconsin came in and laid it on the line. Our guys kept battling, and anything that came our way in terms of adversity - our guys handled it. I don't know that it was our greatest performance, but it was a winning one, and we get a chance to fight another round."

OSU defensive end Gholston impresses

COLUMBUS ? It was well-discussed this week around the Ohio State football team that three Buckeyes defenders had been named by Sports Illustrated as potential top-20 picks in the 2008 NFL Draft. One of them is Vernon Gholston, the junior defensive end.
One wonders what SI thinks now.

Gholston used his 6-foot-4, 264-pound frame and unusual speed to collect four sacks in Saturday's OSU victory against Wisconsin as part of a defensive front that totaled

DDN Offensive lineman: Time to step up to the challenge

After Barton's pep talk, OSU moved 80 yards in 10 plays to tie game, never looked back.

COLUMBUS ? As usual, Kirk Barton's mouth was moving.
"Kirk gave us a talk," said Ohio State receiver Brian Hartline of the offensive lineman's response to a seven-point deficit. "He's a senior and a real leader on this team. He told us it was time to step up."

If Bucks can avoid Boone, they'll make title game

COLUMBUS ? Thoughts and observations on Ohio State's 38-17 victory against Wisconsin at Ohio Stadium on Saturday, while I wonder if Kansas is ever going to stop scoring (psst, my boss is a Nebraska fan):
? Ohio State retired No. 99 at halftime in honor of Bill Willis, the school's first black All-American in 1943 and '44. Now with seven numbers retired, the question remains: Will No. 10 be available much longer? Troy Smith wore that number while leading the Buckeyes to plenty of victories and winning the Heisman Trophy.
