GASP!! I may have to root for scUM. ( can't believe I said that!) read on....

How about "I'll be happy if Texas loses because they can shove that "southern speed" theory up their you know what! Better?

Not rooting FOR scUM, rooting against the southern speed theory.

I think I will root for all "northern" teams this year! heh.

I usually root for the Big 10 teams in the bowl games no matter what. I hope SCum shows Texas what they're in for game 2 next year.

Personally I think people think northern teams are slower because the players slow down as the temp goes down. They don't realize that when the northern teams get down to the bowl location they thaw out and get back to full speed. Maybe Mack Cooper should pop in a tape of the NC game 2 years ago to show how the slow nothern team was able to keep up with the fast southern team and win the game.

Why make a big deal out of the Michigan game if they're not any good? If they can't win out-of-conference games who gives a damn if we beat them or they beat us? In that case, hell, let's turn all our energy loose on beating Indiana and just wait till we beat Northwestern next year. We'll turn High Street upside down.

You want to beat Michigan because they have an excellent program year in and year out. You want Michigan to win their bowl game because then your beating them takes on greater significance. You want Michigan to win because you want people to look at the Big Ten and say, "Man, they kick ass and take names in that conference." You root for Michigan to win because it adds value to your league, your program and takes away value from the other conferences.

Cinci, that's that mature, intelligent, rational stance. Too bad it doesn't register for so many Buckeye fans. If Michigan sucks, Ohio State sucks right along with them. That's the flip side of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. It's the greatest rivalry only if both teams are feared and respected. Our rival should be strong, otherwise, why are they our rival?

Personally, I root for Michigan in all their bowl games. I root for the whole Big Ten in all their bowl games.

I could give a shit if Michigan wins or loses. I could give a shit if Texas wins or loses. If I had my way, they'd both lose. Fuck them. I will root for neither. I will watch so I can be critical of their performances and use that info as I see fit.

I think Texas beats the shit out of Michigan though. Not because I think Texas is superior, really, but mostly cause of Vince Young. Of course, I'm not sold on Texas' D, so maybe it ends up a shootout.

yeah, that's a classic dilemma. on one hand, you always want to root for B10 teams....but what if that means rooting for michigan? i think sometimes earlier in the season, it's Ok to root for MIchigan against a strong non-B10 team so that if/when we beat them, it shows that we were capable of beating a strong michigan team in a strong conference. but no matter what, even if only some small part of you is rooting for those losers up north, it's not as if your heart is really in it. like if you have money on the game...yeah you're happy to get the W, but every time you say something to that effect, it's natural to throw out a qualifier like 'even though i hate michigan'....

in conclusion: screw blue.
