Game Thread Gator Bowl: tOSU vs. Florida, Mon. Jan 2, 1 ET, ESPN2

Wonder if Urban's meeting will go something like this:

Good morning gentlemen. Exit physicals will be in approximately 30 mintues, followed by cleaning out whatever else you need to get out of here.

In case you don't follow these things or noticed my absence around here, myself and the new staff are trying to find folks to replace you. As the new staff gets here we'll be evaluating and letting you know if your services will still be needed here or not as we evaluate the state of the depth chart.

Followed by a speech of some sort about what it means to be a Buckeye, this is a new era, bigger than you, no more whining/complaining, etc.

Off season program starts one week from today at 6am. 5:45 for stretch and be ready to sweat.

Can't blame anyone for being frustrated, this team went through a lot and will return next year with a new attitude, a new set of coaches, and a promising future. Go Bucks in 2012!
Quite true. This hasn't really been a meltdown, certainly not of the magnitude that we witnessed at the Liberty Bowl and 2001 [Edit: whoops, I meant 2000]. The entire team caved in against S. Carolina. Meyer has a solid foundation to work with. They should bounce back pretty quickly.

Unfortunate that Heacock won't be around, though.

I hope I don't eat these words next year, but I am not all that broken up that Heacock won't be back.

This year's defense was extremely lacking in many areas, was very passive, gave up way to many 3rd down conversions, didn't adjust well in game, and broke down at crucial times in multiple games.

He has had a great run with the Buckeyes and I wish him well, but I am excited to shake it up.

In all seriousness, does anybody know when winter conditioning starts?

I think what we saw was the lack of Fickell's presence with the LB's and the overall defense due to his new HC responsibilities. Let's hope that Vrabel pans out as the LB coach and our co-DC's bring back the real Silver Bullets next year.

From the ghost of Tressel past .... the punt was indeed the most important play in the game. Except, the ghost of (Dick) Tressel present was the special teams coach today!

Here's hoping that Urban hires a good special teams coach!

Our defense SHOULD be quite good. We lose Sweat, but gain Williams plus the likes of Spence, Washington, Pittman, and Schutt along the defensive line.

Stopped in Atlanta for the night on the way home. Really can't add anything about the game that hasn't been said. However, I did want to say my wife and I were treated extremely well by some Gator fans in the same parking lot we were in. Came over to where we were and invited us to tailgate with them. Great food, a little good natured ribbing, and just generally excellent hosts. Well, at least until I asked if they knew a Gatorubet, then things went south in a hurry.

Got back from the game around ten, it was a great time and I was very pleased with the turnout from our fans (who may I add sat on their hands for the majority of the game). Never fun to watch the Buckeyes in a losing effort but this being the season it was my emotions were numbed.

Overall thanks to Fickle and the seniors who had to struggle through this unfortunate season.

Go Bucks! :osu:
