George Hill (Pitt Signee)

2014 Junior Year Highlights -- HUDL

Deceiving speed, great hands (3:50), nice body control, and good vision. Looks like George did Hubbard's outside-the-tackles running while LJ did their work inside-the-tackles. Really interested to see how he performs inside-the-tackles next year on film with LJ gone. He looks like he could be a nice speedy "thunder" compliment to Kareem, especially with his catching ability. It's exciting to think what Coach Mick could do with him.

IMO he may need a redshirt year, not due to talent, but to find a position. Like Parris Campbell, is he a Pivot or RB? Get him on campus and just figure it out from there

Brim posted this in the comments of the Hurry up from last night. Sums up the "RB" recruiting for 2016
Think of it like this

  • Kareem Walker = Ezekiel Elliott
  • George Hill = Jalin Marshall
  • Demario McCall = Dontre Wilson

That actually was the EXACT way I have been thinking of it...and even if they swap roles in one of those spots, the point is that they can all be utilized heavily in this offense. I think many programs would have a hard time selling it and I think that because it was not easy to get Zeke, Dontre, and Jalin all on board. But after proving all 3 could thrive (and then throw in Samuel the next year), it has to answer any question a recruit may have on PT. If you are a talent, you will hit the field early and find a role.

I think spread offenses can make this work and this is a big selling point for kids that are "tweeners". It's no longer crazy or weird for kids under 6ft to still play a major role on the offensive side of the ball. And also a selling point to be versatile. As much as I like Birm's post, I can see McCall and Hill just as easily being an EzE type of RB or even a Curtis Samuel change of pace RB as well. Their versatility is such a strength

I didn't realize Hill and LJ Scott were on the same high school team. Good God. Do they even play with a quarterback, or does the center just turn around and give it to one of those guys?

They basically do the latter, lol. Hubbard averaged around 360 rushing yards/gm and under 75yds/gm passing... The passing numbers may increase a little next year as Hill can also catch as well as run. But man is he fun to watch. Kid makes moves that leave defenses bewildered
