Georgia Bulldogs (2021-2022 National Champions)

Per Kirby - this is gonna be the operating model from here on out. Home and Homes (whenever possible - neutral site if no H&H can be agreed to).

Old and Broken: College football is a facilities war, little schools can't compete
New Hotness: If the big teams won't schedule us, how can we compete?

Good for Kirby and Georgia. The games that draw attention are UGA vs OU not UGA vs Georgia State. I would love to see more of this. USC in Tuscaloosa then Bammer in LA. I get that no out of conference games will be played in colder months but I still want Texas @ UW (Wisconsin or Washington) and then they travel to Austin. F all of these "neutral" site games.

I agree F the neutral site games, but c’mon you southern pussies play some football in the cold and snow....

Definitely down from OKC. Norman is right there. Dallas to OKC/Norman is about 6 hours of the dullest driving you’ll ever have to do. In OKC you can hang out in Bricktown, very nice tapas bar there. Very nice Bass Pro Shop if that’s your thing, no shitty Dallas traffic. OKC isn’t that great, but it isn’t that bad. If you do drive up from Dallas don’t stop in Lawton. It’s quite possibly the worst city in America. This is coming from somebody who grew up outside of Youngstown and currently resides in Columbus, Georgia.
If there ever was a time to just say, "This." This is the time.

:slappy: I had to show this to my wife, because her parents just moved to Lawton from Axtell, NE. This absolutely cracks me up. Thank you both!

My condolences to your wife's parents.

My wife told me this afternoon that upon arriving in or near Lawton with their U-Haul, they stopped to get gas. Someone asked them where they were going, and they responded by saying that they were moving to Lawton. The person followed up simply with, "Why?".

Maybe I'm having too much fun and enjoyment with it. But alas, I don't believe that I'll ever have to see what the fine city of Lawton has to offer. Win-win.

I have one helluva story about my short time in Lawton. It is too much to type. It involves an Asian dude, black gang members, a cute redhead missing a tooth or two, Heineken bottles don't break like they do in the movies, three dumbass Army lieutenants, a wife of one lieutenant, cops, near death, stabbing, shooting, and possibly a lion, tiger, and a bear...OH MY!

Sounds like a screenplay for "The Hangover 4". Write it up and profit.

So a typical Thursday night.

Welcome back. You got any in depth thoughts on Jim McElwain?

'Our head coach lives in a barn': Why Jim McElwain fits right in at CMU

upload_2019-5-27_8-52-17.png

Jim McElwain lives in a barn and works in a trailer. The new digs at Central Michigan suit him just fine.

We'll circle back to the trailer in a bit. McElwain isn't the first major college coach, in the age of constant facilities enhancements, to be relocated to temporary office space. The barn, though, might be a first.

The idea was hatched in December, during a party at athletic director Michael Alford's house shortly after McElwain's hiring. Many of CMU's top donors attended, including Chuck McGuirk, a third-generation business owner whose family has supported the athletic program for decades (CMU plays basketball at McGuirk Arena). McGuirk asked Jim and Karen McElwain where they planned to live.

"We'd like to live in a barn," they told him.

The McElwains knew from previous head-coaching stops at Florida and Colorado State that they'd need space to host large groups: recruits, players and staff, or donors. (There's a pretty cool story behind what happened with their home in Florida.) The problem: Mount Pleasant isn't filled with sprawling properties.
Fortunately, McGuirk had a solution: a 6,000-square-foot barn a few miles from Kelly/Shorts Stadium and CMU's campus. McGuirk bought the barn about five years ago and thought about building living quarters on the lower floor. The McElwains soon visited and made the call: This was the spot.

The pic is apparently an ex NY cop.
I'm sure it's pure coincidence CMU's biggest donor is selling a farm to their newest hire. McElwain isnt new to creative compensation...

Re: I know that SEC folks are not known for their intelligence, but this is quite possibly the dumbest idea of all time. You can pay TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS to drink beer at the Georgia Bulldogs stadium, but you CAN’T WATCH THE GAME!!!
