Wasted 3rd pick

What really sucks is everyone in the Browns front office except Butchy wanted to draft Richard Seymour. That just makes the pick look even dumber considering one is the best DT in football and the other just got traded for a 4th round draft pick. Good call Butch.

you got that right... I know it's been said before but the guy NEVER should have drafted that high. First rounder... maybe, #3 pick... no way.
I dont know if I would say thanks to Butch as much as I would tell Warren that this is a result of him only playing with any sort of ball sack in the last few games of the season each year, in a vain attempt to keep himself from getting cut.

of course if this was Butchy, he would reject the 4th round pick offer and then cut warren a week later.

Guys, cmon! Lay off Butch! Seymour? Tomlinson? I mean, how can he be expected to evaluate and draft talent that he didn't recruit out of HS or see at the gotdamn bigeast track meet ....

Seriously though, it's a shame that warren didn't step it up earlier last season. I have a feeling that this move was far more cap/moving to a 3-4 motivated than Crennel wanting this guy gone because he "sucks". Not that I have any clue what Crennel is thinking, but Warren showed he's get some untapped potential that could be turned into something. I for one won't be surprised at all if he turns out to be an excellent 4-3 DT somewhere ... but we needed to get his ass out of cleveland, maybe for his own good more than anything.

Actually, Dwight deserved some credit for this wonderful pick over Tomlinson and Seymour

it has been said repeatedly that hte front office wanted seymour, but davis was sold on warren. all you have to do is listen to 105.7 the fox out of columbus during any browns game. the announcers will say it at least 3 times a game.

I think this had everything to do with Warren sucking. When Warren actually tried to play harder, he was constantly out of position. He seemed to always be rushing the QB, rather than playing his assignment. If you look at many of the long runs against the Browns 'D'. Most of them started out with Warren being led completely out of the play by the guy blocking him. He was easily moved to the path of least resistence and was constantly out of position. Sure, there was also a large quantitiy of missed tackles in the secondary, but run contain starts at the line.
